Then Ayre and FSG need to grow a pair and tell Real Madrid to f off, they have no obligation to sell Suarez, why would they be forced into selling him for less than they want? A contract is a contract and Suarez is aLFc layer for the next 3 years UNLESS the club decide to sell him, if he does a sulk then great no wages to pay him plus you can fine him so the club makes money back, again no risk to the club. I'm starting to think that he may stay.

It's a very risky strategy to try with prized assets - City could do it with Tevez because they had 3 other quality strikers on the bench waiting - we don't, we can't afford to have a £45mil pound striker sitting doing nothing - morally it's great - practically it's shooting ourselves in the foot. There will be nothing gained from keeping him if he isn't contributing on the pitch

Following Arsenal's rejected bid of around £30 million for the Uruguayan, Suarez's agent, Pere Guardiola, spent Monday on Merseyside in discussions with manager Brendan Rodgers and managing director Ian Ayre.

There were two meetings, the first with Ayre at the club's Chapel Street office in Liverpool City Centre and then a secondary discussion with Rodgers at Melwood, Liverpool's training facility.

No transfer request was issued on Suarez's behalf, although it was made clear the 26 year-old continues to harbour concerns as to whether his career can move forward on Merseyside.

It is understood the conversations were amicable and encouraging, Liverpool holding Guardiola in high regard as they do not believe there is currently any underhand attempt by Suarez or his representatives to broker a deal behind the club's back.

Liverpool are relaxed that Suarez does not seem - at this stage at least - as eager to force through a transfer as recent interviews in Uruguay suggested.

As yet, Arsenal's formal approach for the striker is the only firm offer received and, as expected, it was immediately rejected by Liverpool.
Suarez expects to be kept informed of all interested parties and Liverpool will have a duty to inform him if any club bids £40 million, but there remain numerous obstacles in the way of his exit, not least the absence of bids anywhere near his valuation.

Neither party is in a position to state whether Suarez will remain a Liverpool player beyond this transfer window, however, but the absence of a bid from Real Madrid has offered some hope Rodgers can persuade Suarez to stay in England for one more year to see if he can assist in returning Liverpool to the Champions League.

Rodgers will need all his skills of diplomacy to do so, but it should not be underestimated how eager Liverpool are to retain Suarez's services. Indeed, there is some agitation at the highest levels of the club whenever it is suggested that the board would not be too unhappy at cashing in for £40 million. If that was the case, Liverpool could have opened negotiations with most of Europe's major clubs weeks ago in order to start an auction.

If Suarez leaves, Liverpool will be most reluctant sellers.
Further discussions with Guardiola are planned as Liverpool have also made it known that if Suarez does ask to go, and an acceptable offer made, there is no wish for the situation to drag into August.

Liverpool have been stung too often by high profile players using the last days of the transfer window to secure their moves, leaving the club with little or no time to find a replacement.

There are long memories at Anfield. In 2004, Michael Owen left Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window and the manager at the time, Rafa Benitez, had no choice but to accept the undistinguished Antonio Nunez and a paltry £8 million from the deal. He had to wait six months to buy a goalscoring replacement, Fernando Morientes.

In January 2011, Fernando Torres' sale to Chelsea was also completed on deadline day, and Liverpool's subsequent decision to bid for Andy Carroll is now recognised as one of the costliest transfer mistakes in English football history.

Liverpool are anxious never to be in the same position again, although the longer the situation drags on without a statement from the player clarifying if he will stay or go, the more concern there is history will repeat itself.

Rodgers, meanwhile, could raise even more transfer funds by selling Stewart Downing to West Ham for £8 million.
Sam Allardyce has contacted Liverpool about the player. There is no bid yet, but negotiations are continuing between the clubs.

As far as agents go, Pere Guardiola seems quite a reputable bloke and if Suarez is still hellbent on leaving then I'd imagine he'd ensure his fella is out of the club by August. Of course this doesn't factor in Madrids agenda, Michael Owen for 8M and fecking Nunez, we've been screwed over by this outfit before and I hope Guardiola can appreciate this and along with Rodgers talk a bit of sense into him - hand in the transfer request (something he hasn't done) and leave now, or sit tight and help fire Liverpool into the CL next season.

everyone know's this is a strong possibility and if it does happen then its obviously because thats the way we wanted it to happen.
the ball is firmly in our court and the club need to get a commitment from suarez by the end of the month on his situation one way or the other.

To those who are terrified of losing Suarez I say this: We have lost our best players before and LFC has survived.
I am getting absolutely sick of hearing about his agents negotiations and people discussing whether his future lies with us. If he wants to stay then he should apologise to the fans pronto and beg their forgiveness for all this sh'it. He should also thank us for sticking by him through all the trouble he has caused which has affected us both on and off the pitch. He owes us big time, not the other way round!
If he doesnt do this then hes not worth a carat and should be sold to the highest bidder asap. No more hand wringing and weeping like big girls, if Suarez wants to stay a Liverpool player then hed better get it sorted now
Otherwise, FU'CK RIGHT OFF!

Luis Suarez on his Liverpool future: There are no offers yet ... a phone call could change everything
9 Jul 2013 17:53
"My agent is in charge, he knows what I want. The club know what is going on and what I want" says in-demand striker

Waiting game: Suarez says Liverpool have received no offers for him yet
Andrew Powell
Luis Suarez has re-stated his desire to leave Liverpool and encouraged them to grant his wish.

Suarez, who is wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea, is not due back for pre-season training for another 11 days.

But the £40million-rated striker, currently on holiday in his native Uruguay, has urged the Anfield giants to let him leave this summer.

Suarez, also linked with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli, told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890: “My agent is in charge, he knows what I want, I am resting and relaxed.

"Now there are two or three options and the club knows.

“I’m due back in about 10 days, on July 21. There are no offers yet, but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want.

“I’m in Uruguay resting and enjoying family before I get back to my club Liverpool. A phone call could change everything.

“It’s good to know that I’m still valued by teams like Arsenal.

“Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea. I said, ‘You know more than me.’

“Don’t believe everything you read or hear.

“I am somehow off the grid - I don’t even know where my phone is sometimes. My manager called me four times and I was, ‘Oh! Sorry!’”

the irish independent is reporting pretty much the same story but have also said that pere guardiola has to find a suitor who will pay the 40+ fee.

Well, if he wants to leave he should have got his agent to hand in a transfer request.

If he is adamant on leaving I hope his agent gets on the blower to Madrid, would feel sick at the sight of him in a Chelsea or Arsenal shirt - it seems we're ever more likely becoming a feeder club to the top 4. I believe he'd stay in the prem too if a one of the top 4 came in for him.

The owners really do need to make a statement of intent in the transfer market otherwise we'll be treading water for the foreseeable.

I had a gut feeling he'd stay but with these new quotes it looks like futile hope.

agree it would be sickening to see him playing in the prem for someone other than us, it makes suarez out to be a hypocritical plonker as well.
if we dont make significant signings that will improve us and more importantly reiterate the clubs ambition to the likes of coutinho and sturridge, we will be in this boat again next year.

Putting in a transfer request would mean Suarez losing any payments during the transfer.

The sooner it gets sorted the better

earlier on in the window i was of the mindset of if suarez wants to go then let him, just as long as we get decent money for him and we sell him to a foreign club i wouldnt be that bothered.
but i`m not convinced the club are setting their sights very high in the transfer market and i dont have any faith that we`d replace him with talents like muriel and mkhitaryan, i think economics are driving our transfer policy and we seem to be more concerned with getting value for money (in terms of players increasing their value) than we do with building a side that can compete for the top prizes in the game.
i now hope suarez stays but i dont expect him to.

I don't know about you guys, but for the first time I don't mind seeing one of our star player being made to stay and train with the reserve and let him rot there...this guy have no problem biting off the hands that feed him (oh well he already did). If we let Arsene get him for 30mil, I think I will totally lose every bit of faith with our owners. I think he is still testing water...probably with the intention of forcing the club's hands. I still believe a late bid from Bayern or Real will take place...let's see

I do wonder if the latest bite incident was planned in part to almost force a move out, nothing surprises me in football.

There are rare incidents of loyalty to the shirt, however I read that as a fan you should only be loyal to the badge on the front, not the
name on the back, and that should serve you well.

Personally I hope he is Madrid bound as have a long term wager running on that at decent odds but anywhere but a Premier League side
suits me and at £40m + surely despite the fact he's damaged goods.

i`ve only just read that article you posted mate, if he goes to another prem club after all the whinging he has done about the english media, his family not being happy and the F.A etc we`d be a fvcking laughing stock.
he`s even trying to justify blanking rodgers by saying he`s off the grid, i bet if madrid phoned him he wouldnt be off the fvcking grid.
he probably knows that rodgers is going to tell him to get his @rse down to australia and by the looks of it suarez is just not interested anymore. there`s no chance he`ll be on that tour.
dont footballers do your head in, we`ve had torres announcing he wants to leave on the last day of the transfer window, mascherano refusing to play against city to force through a move to barca, owen running his contract down so the money ends up in his wage packet and not our transfer warchest, mcmanaman practically doing the same and now suarez trying his best to engineer a move away from a club thats stood by him through thick and thin.
