Personally I hope the club are having a look at Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, he might just be a available as well.
Would probably go for a similar price as Mkhitaryan too. Watched him a few times when he was at Udinese and my god was he impressive! Was said to have had a disappointing season this year but still scored 8 and assisted 9 from 18 starts. He has said he wants to stay but he might be the word was the he and Villa were both available for transfer, I think he would be brilliant here.

Sanchez Suarez Coutinho

We paid £20m. What would you call a decent price?

8 million.

We got ripped off where his price is concerned, we should have only paid 10 at the most for a bloke who can't go past his man.

I think for £8 million that's a good price for us. I think Downing did okay last season but we need better if we are to progress up the table.

We have plenty of players who can do a job as wide man in a front 3, Sterling, Coutinho, Aspas, Alberto, Suso. Borini and even Ibe.
Sturridge and assuming he stays Suarez can also if needed do that.
Downing is better suited to a 4-4-2. Maybe needs a big centre forward to supply - oh the irony if he goes to West Ham!

I think Downing improved from a very low base after his December bollicking from BR. If anybody came up with £8m I would bite their arm off......

His defensive work allowed the other attacking players to focus on attacking and I thought we were a bit weak in the midfield when we played without him. Maybe Rodgers is convinced by Iago. Let's hope he's right

There will be a party for some when he leaves i think its the wrong thing to do because i dont think we have replaced him. Only Henderson to go now.

What does Henderson have to do with the possibility of Downing leaving?

Diverting much.  ???

Agreed JB, except I'd alter your last line and say Downing is suited to an average team who don't have top 4 aspirations.  :nod

Sanchez looks a very skillful player but his end product seems to be lacking whilst at Barce - I never saw him in Italy so it could possibly be a form issue. I have a nagging thought that he wouldn't hack it in the prem - for his price it would be a big risk

If we are considering selling Downing I hope we can offer him to Villa in an attempt to Lure Benteke away after the lad handed in a transfer request. A price of 8m is rumoured for Downing and although he improved I think I would take it.

Benteke is a very strong player but also has pace a perfect player for the BR system and along with Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez would make us a real threat going forward.

                      Coutinho
Benteke        Sturridge         Suarez

On Suarez Ive heard his agent wants to talk to Chelsea about a transfer which would make Luis, If joined , Morew hated than Torres and with a PL club id be wanting no less than 50 M. I Also think Chelsea will sign Xabi

If we are buying Benteke then he will play through the middle - he isn't someone who plays wide supporting in a front three - for Belgium he is through the middle with Hazard and Mertens or Mirrales either side of him

And Xabi dismissed any speculation on him coming back to the prem

LFC - do you not see Aspas up front for us next season?

Well if we have Sturridge Coutinho Suarez and Benteke in our squad I think it will be hard for Aspas to get in

Benteke tends to drift off towards the left or the right. The same with the front 3 i have named. BR expects all the front three to move around and change positions. All 3 are able to play through the middle left or right

But he drifts when he plays up front on his own supported from behind - like at Villa and for Belgium.

I think he is a very good player but not sure if he is a fit for us. Can't see him and Sturridge working together in the same team

Got a feeling Aspas is the replacement for Assaidi. Ajax amongst other clubs are interested and if we can harbour a deal involving Assaidi to either get Eriksen or Toby Alderwield then its a good bit of business.
