Downing to west ham for 8 mil - seems fat Sam is interested.

I have to say, this was always on the cards. I didn't see him in the recent training videos and he's got no reason to not be available. Was probably told by the club that they're looking to move him on. West Ham are probably looking to do what Kenny was a few seasons ago. And yeah, we know how that worked out!

Can't say I'm super happy with selling Downing. He might not be the most creative, but he offered balance by tracking back and covering Johnson. His defensive work allowed the other attacking players to focus on attacking and I thought we were a bit weak in the midfield when we played without him. Maybe Rodgers is convinced by Iago. Let's hope he's right

I bet anything Pepe doesnt end up at City

city have already spent £50m on that fernandinho and jesus navas. thats a team that finished 17 points above us last season splashing out £50m on 2 quality starting XI type players. how many of our 5 signings so far (mingolet, alberto, aspas, toure, dhanda) would you say are nailed on, cast iron starters?
we`ve spent £23m and i`d argue that our starting XI hasnt improved much (if at all)
we frittered away near £30m last summer, i hope the same doesnt happen again.

Can you explain to me (as we've often been reminded by a certain poster) how we're supposed to attract all these marquee signings when we finish 7th in the league without CL football?

It seems people want it both ways, bemoaning how we can't attract such players then in the next breath whinging when we're not buying them. Some people need to wake up.

you dont even need marquee signings to improve our first team, just good signings would do, for instance we could have bought papadopolous and alderweired with the money we have spent already this window and they would have strengthened probably the weakest area of our team.
maybe add wanyama to those 2 and then all of a sudden we start to look like a decent unit defensively, we could have bought those 3 for around £35m and you`d get a large chunk of that back by selling the likes of carroll and spearing.

                                                                                                        reina

                                                   alderweired               papadopolous            agger               enrique

                                                                                   wanyama                  gerrard

                                                                                                    coutinho

                                                                             ibe/sterling      sturridge             suarez

would have liked to have seen a line up like this next season, a good blend of creativity, pace and power. could have easily been done.

I can say that I'd be over the fecking moon if we managed to sell Downing at a half decent price.

We'd probably replace him with Ince given our transfer policy so far. I'm not convinced :|

There will be a party for some when he leaves i think its the wrong thing to do because i dont think we have replaced him. Only Henderson to go now.

I'd be really shocked if Hendo left.  I thought one of he or Shelvey would leave this summer.  Deffo not both.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

We could still find use for Downing and I think it would be best if we kept him, for squad depth at least, but I won't be too disappointed if he leaves neither. Henderson though, on the other hand, I'd be extremely disappointed if we get rid of him. The boy has a future and he's the only one that offers energy in our slow midfield.

I'm not sure if Henderson convinced BR enough last season.

He may not have convinced him that he should have a spot in the starting XI, but I think he showed enough that Brendan should realize Jordan should be part of the squad.  For me it would be a mistake to let Henderson leave as the current squad is constructed.

He's still young enough that he will improve.  Has a great work rate.  Can fill in anywhere in the midfield (albeit not world class).

Just wish he'd stop fussing with his hair so much.  He's got like a half pint of hair gel in it at all times.  It's not gonna move lad.

I agree - not really noticed the hair business though

Think he offers more than Allen certainly

Allen is going to be a dilemma for the manager this season.
