Downing for well over 12 months did not have one goal or assist to his name. I rate Wellbeck well above Downing, Young, I don't know him well enough to say.

What it does show ( clearly evident last season especially ) is the amount of chances created by the player which was then ultimately missed or saved etc.

Did you know that during Downings first season we hit the woodwork 7 times from one of his crosses or passes ( plus he himself hit the woodwork 3 times ).

What it also shows and again is evident last season especially is that wingers are highly dependant on the striker finishing the chances the winger or mid creates - last season our strikers couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards ( they could hit the woodwork - 18 times ) which then ultimately looks bad on the guys creating the chances.

One minute you are stating that Downing didnt have an assist or goal to his name last season ( actually he did - but that isn't the point ) - then claim that stats are nonsense and not worth the paper they are written on ? Confused ?

One interesting stat though is that when Downing was introduced on a regular basis from Jan and integrated within a front three we actually improved measurably. I think that's more a fact though as opposed to a stat.

The final fact is that I can manage to post that reply without one single slur against you - the other fact is you once again show you're incapable of doing the same.

We have a 35 million striker who thrives on balls into the box so we have purchased the guy who has completed the most successful amount of crosses in the prem .

People are always looking for the big name multi million pound supposed"world class " signings .

Maybe it's time now to build a team - the sum of all parts as opposed to talented individuals .

Adam , Henderson and Downing may not be on the level off the Messi's and Tevez's etc but if they all contribute to the team then that's all we can ask .

Yes massively better - look at what Kenny did with that squad - only two teams got more points than us . Imagine what he will do next season .

We also have to look at how players see us - we can't offer European football , massive wages and that puts us on the back foot straight away .

Downing , Adam and Henderson are signings which improve our team and squad and we help us get back into the top 4   

It's amazing how a manager makes one feel about the team's chances, and it's relatively average players like Adam and Downing, isn't it Benny?

At least you're consistent with one thing, if nothing else 'Downing will help us get back into 4'.
