Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

Of course it's going to get blown out of proportion

But when you give the media the opportunity they will take it and there is only one person at fault for that - Suarez.

He will be banned for the rest of the season and he will then need to learn a lesson he should have learned years ago.

Its not like he even left a mark on Ivanovic.

You're missing the point....completely....

Yes the point is that the media loves to go after Suarez so everything he does is seen as 100 times worse than when other players do it.
He should know this by now and is a moron for doing it, but the media attention this gets is still idiotic.

Just compare it to Defoes biting incident. Football is full of dangerous tackles and idiotic behaviour from any number of players, but very few get the kind of media attention that Suarez does.
Heck Keane got away with a tiny fine and a 3 match ban for intentionally ending another players career. Suarez is probably looking at a much longer ban and additional punishment for touching a mans arm with his teeth.

LOL...is that even consider a possibility? This would be the media event of the year and the media will milk it for what its worth. The spinless FA will no doubt have a word with Fergie and decided to throw the kitchen sink at Luis.

To bite someone during the game?....now this has to be premeditated or there are some wired wrongly connected up there   :no

I have been laughing at the people who have chosen to declare that Suarez should be expelled from the country, castigated, publicly flogged, arrested, banned from player of the year and generally placed on death row.

Suarez's actions where at best childish at worst idiotic but are nothing compared to things that happen on football pitches all over the land (Keane on Alfe Inge Haaland anyone) on rugby pitches (eye gouge, spear tackles) and many other contact sports.

I don't condone or excuse it, he was ***** thick and needs a good bollocking. I cant however listen to or watch all the holier than thou people who wish to pass comment.

He without sin should cast the first stone.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2013-04-22/john-barnes-sacking-luis-suarez-for-bite-on-branislav-ivanovic-would-be-ridiculous/

I have to admit, this article really did knock some sense into me and helped me realise I was caught up in the moment of watching the incident happen live on TV.

I've always appreciated the common sense that comes through almost every commentary from Barnes on controversial topics and this is no exception.

Quoting that one line: "So Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona... they can sign him? But we can't have him? If you're questioning his moral character, what you're actually saying is that if he can't play for Liverpool he can't play for anyone, which is ridiculous."

Suarez isn't going anywhere. He belongs to us  :eyebrow

There are various elements to what has happened, not least that it was an attempt to bite and Ivanovich has accepted the apology.
It was chidish and stupid, but does it really deserve the reaction the media has given it? Of course it does because its Suarez the demon who will single-handedly bring down first football, then civilisation with his wicked behaviour.
Its pathetic and unsurprising the reaction caused, for example the bbc breakfast programme bringing a slimy turd from the sun to give his two penneth about LFC. Guess what he said?
We all know what the backlash from the biased, racist, gutless FA will be and thats why we shake our heads at what Suarez has brought on himself. But if he has anger management problems, shouldnt he be helped instaed of banned? Isnt that what a caring profession and society does to people with personal issues and personality problems?
Lets see how good our new PR department is and what line they will take

Why does the same conversation keep happening with Suarez ?

It's always the same - lets support him lets back him lets get behind.

Isn't it about time that Suarez started to appreciate the fans and the club.

Yes the club has always backed its players through thick and thin but not one single player has attracted as much negative press for the club than Suarez - that needs to stop and it needs to happening now before it goes too far.

Not one player is bigger than the club and the image of the club is more important than any player.

Suarez needs to stop dragging the name of our club through the mud or he leaves.

the lad has obviously issues and when the blood rushes to the head he loses control and is liable to do anything. he needs help and the offer from the pfa should be accepted or forced on him by the club.
this club bangs on about being an institution and a family and now one of the children has stepped out of line and is in danger of being put up for adoption.
we would be fools to sell him especially when the list of clubs interested would be a mile long

When I think of Roy Keane deliberately ending another football players career and even bragging about it in his book, or Cantona's flying kick into the stands or even lampard breakijng Xabi Alonsos leg (it was a cheap shot) and those players are heros to their clubs, I cannot understand why the FA would be investigating. It was childish and silly but it was never dangerous and should be dealt with by the club and not the FA. There is so much hype on Suarez and they desperately want to end his career with us but he actually gets people to watch English football and is the most exciting player in the prem by a country mile. Bale is just a running machine but Suarez is second only to Messi in terms of excitement and the best player in the PL. The biting thing deserves a punishment but it should be kept in perspective.

You really can't understand why the FA are investigating ? Seriously ?

Suarez bit a player - it's not a natural reaction within football or any other sport

Why are people bringing up Keane or Cantona to try and find some justification for what Suarez did - there is none and there is no comparison - to make it worse this isn't an isolated incident.

There is only one person bringing all these issues onto the club - Suarez , it's not the FA's doing.
