Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I haven't seen much of Sneijder last couple of seasons but it concerns me that no other Italian clubs seem interested, the teams that see him up close every week. His recent injury record isn't good and he's struggled to reproduce his 2010 form by some accounts.

It seemed a no brainer at first when he was linked (if he dropped his wage demands), but even then I'm not so sure now.

not for the pittance we would be willing to offer him anyway
i reckon the reported interest from us is just to satisfy the fans and they know we will never get him with a silly offer.

Not a big loss ,we need to bring a hungry proven player ,no gambles on an injured over the top player.

Liverpool make £8m bid for Inter Milan's Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool have launched an audacious £8 million bid for Inter Milan’s Brazilian youngster Philippe Coutinho.

But the Merseyside club may have to go beyond their initial offer to secure a player once considered the next superstar of South American football.

Brendan Rodgers has been monitoring the young midfielder's situation in Italy, where he has fallen out of favour recently.

After becoming increasingly frustrated in efforts to sign Thomas Ince from Blackpool, whose club would not budge on a valuation in excess of £6 million, Rodgers instead turned to the 20-year-old attacker who has already played for the senior Brazilian side.

Coutinho would fit the bill as the prototype signing of Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group, as a young and emerging international talent.

Club chairman Tom Werner is currently on Merseyside ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixture with Norwich and spent Friday in discussions about January business.

No. Won't make it as a prem player IMO. Might be worth a gamble for the right price (both transfer fee and wages) but Rodgers should be ready if he turns out to be a flop because there's a high possibility that he will.
I personally would rather put our effort into the development of Suso.

ince would be a better prospect than coutinho and would be more suitable to this league atm.
I think these types of rumours are nothing more than fan pleasing excercises or complete bull because if we are faffing about the place over 6mil for ince then i cant see us going higher than that for anyone else.
next we will be bidding for messi on a loan deal with the option of a 15mil buy if he works out and then only if he will take a pay cut to 70k a week :eyebrow

Who on Twitter? Without knowing who actually said it on Twitter it’s hard for anyone to gauge the likelihood that it’s correct. It’s like saying “the internet is saying we are interested in…”

Browsing through the papers (on the net) and seeing a couple of disturbing "reports".

Barcelona to rival Arsenal in race for Liverpool star!

He is considered to be one of the best stoppers in the Premier League and is vital to Liverpool’s success, but it seems that a battle could be on between Arsenal and Barcelona to sign Pepe Reina in the summer, as the Spanish giants are looking to replace Victor Valdes.

Valdes stunned Barca by refusing to discuss an extension to his contract, which runs out in 2014, and though he will play until the end of the season, Barca want to recruit a new goalkeeper in June.

Barca believe Liverpool would consider a bid for Spain international Reina, with manager Brendan Rodgers aware that he will have to sell key players to raise money to rebuild the current side. (Daily Mail)

Also
Bayern Munich plan sensational Liverpool raid!

He will not take over until the summer but has already reportedly starting to line-up some moves. And the latest to emerge is one which would see Bayern Munich’s coach to be Pep Guardiola make a £40 million offer for Liverpool Luis Suarez.

Former Barca boss Guardiola also has a straight line into Suarez because his brother is the player’s agent – and a price clause is known to him.

Guardiola wants to make a couple of landmark signings when he moves to the German giants in the summer and Suarez is on his short list.

Liverpool boss Rodgers hopes to keep Suarez happy after fending off Juventus in the last window and giving their star South American a new deal. (Sunday People)

Whilst Pepe may have lost some of his shine he's still our best keeper by a country mile, Jones imo is no more than a back up keeper, if Pepe went we'd have to use the money to buy a replacement so no gain for us.

As for Suarez, didn't know there was a "price clause" in his contract, if that's the case only Suarez himself could prevent a move away from Anfield if another team decides to meet the price.

Thoughts of CL football and how we perform for the rest of the season is going to have a huge bearing on Luiz's thinking about his future.

I could see Reina moving to Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the summer, but can’t see Bayern spending that sort of cash on Suarez when they already have Gomez, Robben, Ribery, Muller and Mandzukic as options for the front 3. There would have to be one or two surprising outgoings to make room for Suarez.
