1. Because he hasn’t done anything at LFC and his form has in fact deteriorated.
2. Perhaps more importantly — we want to get rid of him. This puts potential buyers in a very comfortable position.
Add these reasons to the fact his wages are probably very high and it makes it very difficult to sell him. He has been garbage and he obviously can’t deal with the pressure or expectations of our club. So it’s best to just get rid of him any way we can, be that temporary or permanent. Same goes for Carroll and Cole, I have more time for Henderson.
It boils my blood when I think of the Jan. 2011 and Summer 2011 transfer windows. They have to be the worst for us in modern times. Dalglish identified woeful players, Comolli "negotiated" ridiculous transfer fees.
Downing hasn't delivered for Liverpool perhaps because he joined at the wrong time in his career but more probably to my mind because of the pedestrian movement in our midfield last season particularly after Lucas got injured. The lack of a right winger on the other side to complement him also didn't help. Confidence players like Downing are more effective when they are in teams that are not in transition.

I now stand corrected.
Downing is brilliant, not his fault LFC didn't sign him when he was 15 and give him enough time to grow some nuts. When we did finally sign this ambitious hardcase would you f'ucking believe it ! Lucas goes and gets himself injured thereby slowing our already pedestrian midfield to a pace that even snails would laugh at , f'uck me how the hell can Stu perform now ? . Don't worry lads with a right winger on the other side of the pitch Stu will do just fine :nod , Hold up ! what's that ? No f'ucking right winger to help Stu out?
You've gotta be kidding me ! How the fu'ck can we expect Stu to perform when the team clearly isn't built around him
Sack the Fu*king manager, obviously he hasn't a clue about how to get some bottle out of a bucket of milk.

Credit where it is due for today.

Completely disagree mate.
Even when their right back was clearly carrying an injury Downing wouldn't take him on. He has the pace but no belief in his ability. Plenty have already called it - he's mentally weak. Happy to let others take the responsibility.
He also gave away possession in a really dangerous place and they got a corner out of it. It was daft play keeping the ball in by our left corner flag to save a throw, but just kicking it straight to the attacker. He's a liability as far as I'm concerned.
