Looks a much better player as part of a front 3 both games Vs Gomel i think he looked very threatning.

apparently he is a bit of a second season wonder, at villa he was very quiet in his first season but the best player at the club the following year.
hopefully a similar thing will happen here.
what i will say about him is that he has got a decent shot on him, i`m sure he could make more use of it though, he`s got a habit of cutting inside from the wing and working good openings for himself but instead of taking the shot on he shifts the ball square across the face of the area for someone else to run onto. if he had a go everytime he created a bit of space for himself he could get into double figures this season with his shooting power.

One of my Villa mates thought Downing was better than Young in their last season together at Villa. I don't think Downing is really top quality but I expected more end product. It's weird that he looks good technically but keeps fluffing his shots. He is lacking confidence. With a bit more composure, and a couple of early league goals, the floodgates could open.

He even missed a penalty against the Chavs in the last game of the season when we beat them 3-1.  Couldn't score in a brothel that lad.

WOW! This just shows that Downing should only be allowed to play against lower opposition in the Championship or unknowns in Europe.

What has that got to do with what Reg or myself has posted?

He said Downing couldn't score and well he did, he scored against Gomel, so he can score a goal and has done so in the match, therefore what Reg says is technically incorrect, irrespective of whom the opposition was.

But don't you notice he's only doing well when he plays against lower league teams? Against WBA once again he went missing, as did Gerrard.

It doesn't matter about that, Reg stated that Downing doesn't possess the ability to score goals and that's not true, he scored recently against Gomel. I don't understand why you're arguing such a point, who Downing scores against doesn't matter in this instance, because we're not discussing that.

That's rich coming from you. All you seem to do is chime into a thread with an insult and then disappear, repeat cycle again and again.
