Europa League Draw - Liverpool v Man United

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Fri Feb 26, 2016 1:25 pm

This is Uniteds worst side in a quarter of a century so no better time to play them, yes they have beaten us twice this season but we have Sturridge back now (plus their win at Anfield was a smash and grab - we played them off the park).
The only disappointment is the second leg is at OT.

yep, we shouldn't look into the loss at Old Trafford earlier on in the season too much, for a start Brendan was manager and the likes of Joe Gomez, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke were all in the starting XI, indeed Gomez gave away a soft pen.
We had no Sturridge or Coutinho and although Firmino was in the team he was really struggling for form at that point (September), he's a completely different player now as he proved with his MoM performance against United at Anfield the other week.
Lovren was in that team as well and he's come on leaps and bounds under Klopp.

In a way it's good that we drew man United. At least the players will be up for it.

The scum have their shittiest team in recent memory with a manager on death row, I trust  Kloppo to throw the switch and electrocute him

It's the 1st of March on Tuesday so the 10th is the following Thursday, that's less than 2 weeks away.

I think that an OT 2nd leg suits us. We have played better away from home this season and so have they.
It'll be a double or nothing for us in the 2nd leg because of the away goal rule.

Super draw for us united are indeed one of the weaker teams remaining ;not that we are any good, we should be able to walk all over them.

Actually that is a good point JB, away goals could be crucial in this tie so it's imperative that we don't allow them to score at Anfield. Even a 0-0 wouldn't be the end of the world in the first leg as a score draw in the second would be enough to see us through, indeed just one goal at OT would make life very difficult for them.
If they don't get an away goal at Anfield their defenders will be nervy as hell in the second leg and every time we get near their box the whole of Old Trafford will be on pins so keeping them out at Anfield is going to be crucial.

Ain't beat them since march 2014. Absolutely looking forward to this one.
United always are a jammy side, many times we out play them but tend to lose.
We must take our chances, a good lead in the first leg is crucial.
