Good riddance! Personally I thought he could have had a role to play, but if he didn't want to be here and get stuck in then bye-bye. Hopefully Cole, Spearing, Carroll and Adam aren't too far behind him.

Yeah but according to most those 18 games he single handedly dragged us to the next level.

Ill be glad when he leaves that we can finally stop talking about him.  I doubt he has even played a competitive game for us since Rafa was manager.

Aquilani could have been a good player for us. Instead he has been a waste of our time and money.
Whether its his fault or not is irrelevant. He should go and the saga should end

Rodgers to decide on Aquilani

MIdfielder's agent says there has been no bid from Fiorentina

Alberto Aquilani: Liverpool midfielder has been linked with Fiorentina as Brendan Rodgers assesses the midfielder

Brendan Rodgers says he will make a decision on Alberto Aquilani's future this week after the Liverpool midfielder's agent denied reports that Fiorentina had made a bid.

Aquilani is determined to prove his worth to Rodgers during pre-season after spending the last two years on loan back in Italy at Juventus and AC Milan respectively.

The 28-year-old has made just 18 Premier League appearances since joining the Reds in 2009, but speculation continues to link Aquilani with a return to Serie A.

His omission from Liverpool's friendly against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday only served to fuel rumours regarding his future and Rodgers is still to decide whether Aquilani will be part of his long-term plans.

Simple

"The situation with Alberto is simple," said Rodgers in the Daily Mirror. "I have wanted to assess him over the first few weeks of training.

"Over the course of the next week, I will make a decision on what's going to be best for us, whether he will be useful for the group or whether it's best for him to move on."

Reports have claimed a deal in the region of £7million is close to being agreed with Fiorentina, but Aquilani's representative Franco Zavaglia says there has been no contact with the Viola.

"Let us not open up a soap opera, please," agent Franco Zavaglia told Radio Sportiva.

"Aquilani is a Liverpool player and he is happy where he is now. We have not received any requests from Daniele Prade, but that was only to be expected, seeing as Aquilani will only leave on a permanent move and at figures Fiorentina cannot afford.

"I would rule out a current return to Italy."

As the hours tick by we get closer to the gang rape that is loaning him out and paying half his wages..............

If we loan him out again we might as well all get MUG tattooed on our foreheads. I was sure he would move on to Fiorentina when this story arose, but now it seems this isn't entirely certain?

As much as I think he could be a good player, I've been buying into that potential for far too long now. With Rodgers likely to utilise a three man midfield with two deeper, and Gerrard a shoe in to play the furthest forward (and Cole, Shelvey with a new contract decent back-ups?) I'm not sure he is part of the plan.

I think the club not the player has been handled very badly. Everyone is moaning about his wages yet for the past 2 seasons we have bought other players that are not a scratch on his ability.

It's one thing to have ability, it's another to be bothered to do anything about it while earning 50k+ a week.

If he could be bothered to actually play his heart out for the club, he would have already tried to do so. Heck, he couldn't be bothered to play for Milan last season.

The only thing the club haven't done for him as yet, is to pack his bags for him and drop him off at the nearest port.
