And maybe we all have it ar$eways and there's no substance to any of these Carroll rumours...I hope it's the latter. I'd give him the chance to prove his worth. We know there was a hefty price tag but maybe Carroll will come good after the initial pressure for a bucket load of goals is now off.

Wouldn't have thought so... Carroll being a confidence player the last thing he needs is a manager not giving 100 backing.

The signs are clearly not good for Carroll, and i genuinely cannot believe that anyone is surprised.

Carroll is not a Brendan Rodgers type player (tbh i never thought he was a Kenny type of player which only added to the mystery of the purchase). Rodgers would never have actually signed him so why would anyone expect him to want to keep/play him? Hes a previous managers player. He has no responsibility to pick him. If Carroll was compatible with Rodgers style (as Gerrard, Suarez, Agger, Lucas are) then he would have no hesitation in keeping him. Rodgers has watched more of Carroll than the rest of us combined.. he will know exactly what his attributes/limitations are and what he would or would not bring to the team. I have always felt the number one priority is getting the best out of our best player, Suarez. Its what Barca do with Messi, Real do with Ronaldo, Man U do with Rooney. They dont cater to a lesser player which is what we did for much of last season with Carroll. Suarez was at his best when paired with Maxi and Kuyt (the Man U game where he played a part in all three goals, the Arsenal game where he tore them apart, the Fulham 5-2 game when he looked unplayable). When the big fella plays it restricts Suarez, it slows down the interplay (of which there is little) as the one-twos go out the window, and the fast movement ends. Suarez needs mobile technical players to compliment him (as Forlan does with Uruguay when the pair of them excelled at World Cup 2010 as semi finalists, and Copa America 2011 as winners. Luis is not a player who just runs on to flicked on headers (thats Michael Owen).. he is a very technical player and inorder to get the maximum out of him we need to provide him with similar minded players.

Carroll excells in the air and is at best an aerial option from the bench. Rodgers knows it.

if you think suarez is going to hang around here long when he`s surrounded by the likes of clint dempsey and 21 year old strikers who havent even played 50 games yet your deluded.
we`d be better off pinning our hopes on carroll, he`s less likely to do one, well he was before the new shankly opened his gob.

Couldn't agree more... Let's give our manager the chance to mould the team according to his vision shall we? After all this is what we entrusted him with. Just because he's not building the team around your precious Carroll, doesn't mean that he's a Yes Man. That's abit laughable :D. It's not like Carroll is Alan Shearer or Ibrahimovic now is he?

Absolutely... its Rodgers team now. if he doesnt want to keep some of Kenny's leftovers thats his prerogative. I have held back on the critique of Kenny simply because of who he is (many have held back completely)...he left an expensively assembled squad that is low on quality and Rodgers is having to pick up the pieces.

1) if dempsey arrives here mate rodgers will look like a yes man.
2) if carroll goes then he has to be replaced with a similar big name striker.
3) rodgers is not impressing me early doors to be honest, our tranfer targets all seem to have played for either chelsea`s youth team or swansea
4) rodgers is probably p*ssed off that carroll made his best mate JT look like a divvy

1) Why? Because he is American?  ???  What makes you think that he isn't being purchased, supposedly, because BR thinks he fits into the type of play he wants?
2) Big Name?!   Carroll is only a "big name" because of his price tag so please cut the bull yeah? You want big name, you talk about Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Villa, RVP, Rooney, etc not someone like Carroll!
3) Transfer targets according to who? The press or BR himself?
4) Source?

Looking forward to your answers  :;):

After the Newcastle watershed moment the guy actually woke up and started to become a dangerous player and at times unplayable - he then starts to build confidence and goes to the Euros where he continues to build and again at times was outstanding and unplayable. His confidence would be through the roof.

That's what we should build on - Rodgers hasn't even had a training session with him yet. Last season Swansea had Graham up front , Carroll is that role but better. We are already short up front so getting rid of another striker ( after Kuyt also left ) seems madness.

But it's very possible it's just the rumours rumbling and Rodgers is going to give Carroll a chance next season. But he needs to be definitive in the press about it. Currently he is lauding Suarez and going on about them texting each other like best buddies ( which is good ) and lauding Carra and Gerrard who is all respect especially Carra are the past yet being very non committal about Carroll will just add fuel to the fire.

I know we can't expect managers to respond to evey specualtion going but I wonder what his reaction would be if the rumour was about Suarez. I think his comments have started this so it's up to him to clarify them.

Rodgers has to be careful to not try and do too much too soon. Carroll has been pigeoned holed already - the minute people talk about this "barce style " Rodgers wants to introduce then Carroll is immediatly the one who people immediatly question. I fully understand that reason but I also think it would very short sighted to not give him the chance ( along with everyone else ) to adapt to the style.

Is Graham a better player than Carroll - not from what I saw. Carroll isn't just a lump with nothing else to offer - I think he can fit into a passing system and also offer something unique and different. We don't have the personnel to play this Barce style and we currently lack options up front.

If we let Carroll go on loan then we best have more than one option and if that is people like Borini and Dempsey then I would be worried and disappointed.

the link with west ham of loan is nothing short of ridiculous imo. he's never be linked with them in a million years if nolan wasn't there.

rodgers needs to clarify his position on whether he wants carroll to go or not as all these rumours will do is cause unrest.
i like rodgers and what he says and does but im beginning to think he's just a blagger who tells people what they want to hear.a lot on here think he is the best thing since sliced bread and are panning anyone who dares question him.
id prefer to keep my opinion to see what he does football wise on the pitch and thats the important thing for me.at the moment talk of borini, dempsey and allen dont fill me with excitement and im disapointed that that quality of player is being linked with us.since rafa left we got woy who brought utter ***** and then repeated by kenny and now this lad is apparently looking to do the same.
we will never get anywhere near the top 4 while recruiting from fulham and swansea the same way we didnt get anywhere near it under the previous 2 with a similar policy.
when you hold a high profile job like this then you automatically open yourself up for critisicsm whether its fair or not and he needs to get used to it.
the fact that some have elevated this man already to shanks status is simply wrong.

how much money do you think we have to spend though? we can't attract the very top bracket of player anymore anyway.

i'd be surprised if we've got more than £25m to spend this summer unless we sell first.

Starting with Aquilani, I think we have done pretty terrible in the transfer market. Now the team is languishing in 6th position and we don't have Champions League football. For 2 seasons we have been above average at best and premier players in the market don't consider us as a top club destination anymore. Rodgers has a very difficult job ahead of him in bringing us up as a Champions League team. Carroll going out on a loan is not an ideal situation. If he is not someone that Rodgers prefer, I'd rather sell him for whatever we can (I'm thinking we could still get 15 million) and add that money to the rebuilding project. If let's say we have 25 million, then with Carroll's money we will have 40 million and that's not too bad an amount. Next thing we have to do is buy smart. It's the most difficult thing to do but we can look at how Dortmund build a title winning team from youngsters. That's what we need to emulate in my honest opinion...

The 7 million bids for the Icelandic lad and the Italian show where our price threshold lies, so we're once again looking for young lads who haven't broken through into the big time yet. Really makes you wonder where Carroll came from at 35 million doesn't it?

i think the money's always been there, and will be there in the future... trouble is they've seen what £35mm buys and they've seen what £20m of Downing buys, and that's probably put them off signing them hugh cheques. So they've probably put an end to high end signings until we're back in the champions league. Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal all spent less than us and finished above us. They've probably looking at that and thinking that the £7m talent is out there, it's just a question of finding it.

listen mate i dont have a real issue with anyone, but last night i was well p*ssed off (i still am) that one of the few players in the squad who showed any sort of fight, heart and improvement last season seems to be the one singled out for a move, our squad is full of players who look like they are going through the motions but he singles out one of the few players who looks willing to really have a go?
one of the few reason`s i was looking forward to next season was to see carroll and suarez unleashed on defences, i really thought this version of carroll could do some damage and towards the end of the season him and luis started to build a rapport.
if i had to compile a list of players to move out there would be a fair few names before carroll.
as i said i`m praying that this signing that will `knock us off our feet` will be a big name striker because if rodgers thinks that a 21 year old who has played less than 50 career games is going to fire us into the CL then i think he`s mistaken, i`ve got a funny feeling though that the term `signing that will knock us off our feet` will go down with houlliers whoppers.
dont even get me started on clint dempsey, the other week i saw an interview with werner where he was saying he would love to grow our fanbase in america and the easiest way to do that would be to sign an american player (he gave the usual caveat that he`s got to be good enough to justify his place blah blah blah) the least the owners could do for rodgers is to at least sign a young american player, signing a 29/30 year old for around £10m is so blatantly against their moneyball philosophy it`s obvious why he is being brought here ( granted thats if he comes)
if he arrives it also makes a mockery of rodgers `i`m not a yes man` speech in his first press conference, imo it does anyway, you may think that rodgers has always wanted to sign dempsey and it`s just a coincidence that our owners want an american player at the club to further the brand in the states but even if it is a big coincidence it wont look good for rodgers, the owners get their man in (hodgson was appointed by a different regime and kenny was the fans choice) and next minute an american players comes in? and a 29/30 year old at that?
i`m not over the moon with the players we are being linked with, granted they are only links but there seems to be a common thread, they are all (or rather a lot of them) either ex swansea or chelsea players and i dont see no one special there, do you think the likes of united or city would sign borini as a first XI starter?
carroll out and borini / dempsey in is going backwards to me, it`s shades of when hodgson took over (i wont even go into the whole loan thing, havent we learned our lesson from the aquilani debacle?) carroll has shown that on his day he can give any defence problems, carroll is only 2 years older than borini and has scored the winner in f.a cup semi finals and nearly single handedly turned around f.a cup finals against the european champions, what do we know about borini? that he didnt score a single goal in his 8 starts in this country?
another thing that doesnt sit right with me is that he hasnt even seen carroll in training yet, the welcome mat is rolled out for the likes of cole and aquilani but he`s talking about carroll moving out on loan before he`s even seen him play?
posters are right, i am getting a bit carried away, none of this has happened yet and maybe 20 odd years of watching us shooting ourselves in the foot has got me overly negative, but i have got a funny feeling that the carroll thing and the dempsey thing arent solely the decisions of brendan rodgers, making his mind up about carroll before he`s even seen him train doesnt sound like rodgers`s modus operandi,  if carroll goes and dempsey arrives i`m going to wonder who`s running the club.
to me as a club we are not acting like a club that has high aspirations, losing out to spurs over a few quid in wages, looking at signing mid table plodders and young inexperienced players around the 10m mark, moving out big money signings......to me we look like a club cutting it`s cloth to settle for mid table obscurity
