LIVERPOOL VS BRIGHTON - FA Cup 5th rd Sun 19th Feb 16.30pm ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

I honestly can't remember the last time we scored 6.

Another thing I love is that the headlines I've seen aren't anything about us trashing Brighton, they say "Own goals aid Reds' progress."  We won 6-1 and scored 3 ourselves, it's not like the og's won us the game. manure had 3 og's for them not too long ago and won the game by 2.  The headlines sure didn't say the game was given to them...  And to make it better the caption says who got the 3 og's on Brighton, the fact Lualua scored, and nothing about Skrtel, Carroll or Suarez scoring.  A little one-sided there.

Brilliant performance we battered them, I remember back in Rafa's days we used to give a wee much respect for lower league teams in those competitions and we used to struggle against them. However, this time around we are doing well against those type of sides

well played Kenny making sure he got it though

Disagree, you know when you just get that "gut feeling", I said to the missus Kenny's made a mistake Suarez will miss it, he should leave it to Kuyt.

Thank fk Suarez got one later, wiped the egg off his and Kenny's face.

Looks like Kenny admits it too woof

Not long got back from the game plus walked in just in time to watch the highlights on ITV+1! Got to be thoroughly happy with that. Final scoreline was a bit tough on them but I think we had something like 28 shots and sooner or later someone was gonna get a pasting at Anfield the way our luck has been for much of the season. First half I thought we played too deep, let them knock it around at the back but soon as the lads came out 2nd half you could see them playing 10 yards higher and it made all the difference as they just hit it long whenever they were pressed properly. I thought several lads played very well with Downing my man of the match. He does blow hot and cold but today he was excellent. He ran at defenders, hit a few fantastic shots, kept the ball, set up a goal and put in a few decent crosses. That's as good as he's played in a red shirt and the challenge now is to find a bit of consistency in his game. Thought Skrtel was a beast at the back again with another dominant display + was funny watching him alongside Carra (given he's been out of the side) and it was Martin who looked like the senior player (of the two) so that shows just how far he's come this season. Enrique was back to his usual self with a good performance, Stevie played well in a disciplined role and Suarez had some excellent moments as well. Big Andy had another bright game and he took his goal brilliantly and looked far mroe effective in the 2nd half when we got bodies further forward to support him. Stevie teed up a couple of great diags for him to attack and that (i think) will become a feature the more they play together as it's very difficult to defend.

As for the Brighton fans, they were excellent. A bit of banter came Carroll's way and Suarez got a few boos but he'll get that from every club we face for the rest of the season and beyond I expect. Our fans didn't really wake up until the lads were 4-1 up.

I thought Brighton played the better football in terms of ball possession and skills in the first half but they faded away in the 2nd half esp. with that suicidal own goal. Good to see Suarez redeemed himself again by grabbing a goal soon after missing a penalty just like the Sunderland PL game. Well done lads, let's have another feast of goals again in the Carling final. YNWA

Great performance, think Suarez and Andy were at the center of everything good that happened for us.  Downing was good as well but Andy and Luis were our big players for the most part.

Very good display and job well done.
Everyone had a good game with Carroll probably stealing the show. Suarerz got better as the game went on but that penalty was shocking.

On a side note, how good has Skrtel been this season. Incredible.

Was funny to watch him and Carra together again and for SKRTEL to be the one who looks like the senior player (althought Carra was also very good yesterday). Has come a long way very quickly and has reached levels I didn't think he was capable of. I don't think there can be man centre-halves in the league who have played better than Martin this season? Ledley King maybe, but beyond that. Seems to have got better in the air, he's cut out the occasional lapses in concentration he used to be prone too and his touch, confidence and composure on the ball seemed to have improved considerably as well.

I agree. King has been surprisingly great this season, but I couldn't be happier with Skrtel.  Agger has played great, but he's good to have because he's a consistent defender, and great at playing from the back and getting involved in the offense a bit.  Skrtel has possibly been the most solid CB in the league this year from a defensive point of view.  I really can't think of any major mistakes he's made, but I can think of some great stops he's made like clearing Ba's shot off the line against Newcastle.  Without that we probably don't win that game.
