I was baffled, truely truely baffling play.

so you're saying he DID get a touch?  :D

couldn't agree more. 20 million winger who's afraid to take risk, too chicken to dribble past players.. get rid.

Downing's performance today came as no surprise and he will be one of the key reasons if we don't qualify for the CL. Just how often did Middlesborough or Villa beat any of the top teams? This is a very different level and he can't handle it.I find it even more frustrating that Kenny cannot see it! Henderson is almost in the same category along with Adam.Just watched Spurs thrash Newcastle 5-0. That was football.

Absolutely pathetic performance...near anonymous for the entire time he was on the pitch. Not even a 'nearly man', a nothing man.

More disappointed with him so far more than all the other signings, tbh.

Does he even try to beat the defender ?? To me it looks like he is a "winger" that can only pass the ball back.. I had high expectations for Downing, but he is simply terrible... Riera was miles better .

In the 2003/2004 Season, Arsenal finished the league season unbeaten

In the 2011/2012 Season, this man aims to finish the league season with no goals and no assists

This man is Stewart Downing

The team performance was poor but Downing was worse than that he looked totally disinterested.

I think we should confiscate his weeks wages he certainly made no effort to earn them.

I agree but I have to say that Henderson is no better which leaves us with no wingers at all. Why is it that Kenny refuses to sub Henderson, I really don't get that.

I feel that it was a big error of judgement by Kenny in starting Downing against Man utd. Bellamy is 100 times the player that Downing is and should have started yesterday!! A lot of our players were poor yesterday but Downing is so out of his depth with the level of expectation at a club like Liverpool...he really should be nowhere near the first team.

Has Kenny got the guts to drop him into the reserves?

I really would rather see Raheem Sterling given a chance on the occasions when Bellamy can't play! Even Maxi is preferable to Downing!! At least one of the young kids would be busting a gut to play for Liverpool and would hopefully play without fear! What have we got to lose? I really hope Downing is shipped out at the end of the season..he is hopeless, a totally average  and cowardly footballer.

What is even more obvious to me is that Bellamy is not affective as a sub. If fitness is a problem then start him and take him off when we are winning!
