Its only racist if you deliberately use the person's race as an insult because you believe that person's race is secondary or beneath your own race.

I lived in England for 10 years. I'm from N. Ireland. The amount of times I was called Paddy, I lost (and stopped counting) count. I didn't see it as a threat. I saw it as an acknowledgement. Ok, it WAS a bit lazy, and stereotypical. But it wasn't a threat.

Jason Roberts from Kick It Out is doing my nut in. He says he thinks Suarez IS a racist, because he was found guilty.

I'd love to ask him, how many times has he encountered an Irish player and referred to him as Paddy? Or a Scottish player and referred to him as Jock? Or a Welsh player and called him Taff?

In the UK, The term that Suarez used is not acceptable and should not be used. However, in my opinion, he believed that he was using it in the manner that anyone who uses the term Jock, Paddy or Taff think that they are using it in. Acknowledging, recognising, yes, even concilitary.

The offence was wrong. It should have had a three match ban, a warning about future conduct with a full explanation on the punishment and an acknowledgement that foreign players needed education regarding our UK culture.

The LFC supporters can see this but everyone else can't or doesn't want to see this. Its turned into a witch hunt.
