Nice one Parchpea, As a 28 year old, current bench man, he must be losing some of his Bargaining power so he is inventing some interest to 'up the ante' for his wage demands.

Morientes will be getting splinters in his a8rse.  Does he want to play above a car park in Monaco in front of 10,000?

Don't forget Mista - 5 live spanish pundits rate him very highly.

He scored more than 20 for Valencia last season as a striker.

He scored 28 goals last season in all comps for Valencia.

He has been left out of the squad all season and apparently has said he will decide on his future next month.

It looks to be like he is on his way out and I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him in the transfer window in a cut price deal.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Mista was very lucky last year, and he scored 28 goal becouse of good players around him giving passes, etc...

I think Morientes is much better than Mista. Mista only played 1 good year and Morientes have played a lot of seasons with Real Madrid, Albacete, Zaragoza, Monaco and spanish national team, always having a very good work and scoring a lot of goals.

From todays Independent:

Misfiring Liverpool strengthen need for Morientes
By Phil Shaw
21 October 2004

Liverpool's interest in recruiting Fernando Morientes from Real Madrid led to talks about his possible transfer on Tuesday - hours before Djibril Cissé and Milan Baros again struggled to forge an effective attacking partnership in the 0-0 draw with Deportivo La Coruña.

Morientes' agent, Gines Carvajal, met representatives of the Merseyside club to discuss the prospect of the Spain international joining the colony of his countrymen at Anfield during the transfer window in January. Ironically, the 28-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order at Real since the acquisition of Michael Owen from Liverpool.

Carvajal later said: "Fernando isn't happy because he's not playing. He knew he wasn't likely to be in their starting XI but he did hope to play. If he hadn't belonged to Real Madrid maybe they would have tried to sign him at any cost because he's a galactico. Because they already own him, he isn't classed as one.

Looks as though things are warming up !!  Just  a pity, he is cup tied.

Two and a half, and actually while we are at it. He dosn't look too promising, if he is a 28 year old sub', currently behind MO in the pecking order. So I will  start piling my amunition up now !!

A big fee for Morientes would be understandable. Top scorer in the CL last year and all that. Even if he flopped at Anfield I think most people would say the money was spent wisely. Proven quality, international pedigree, top scorer in a top class competition, how much? Fourteen million quid perhaps? or I reckon a wee bit less:D

Report in a newspaper said Liverpool would only be interested in a fee of less than £8m.
Can't see this one happening somehow.

A report in the Sunday Sport also claimed that a London Bus had been found on the moon, so it MUST be true.
