It used to be just knock out right?

That would make it harder cos your potentially screwed if you have one bad game or if you have a lot of injuries.

I like the current set up tbh, they just need to find a way to filter out all the shi.te teams.  Maybe something like what SCS descried on previous page

From what I've read and what our history suggests, the old Euro cup was knockout with no seeded teams. We once played Inter in the first round for example
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

JFT 96 - Gone but never forgotten
YNWA 15/4/1989

we once got knocked out by forest in the first round. we were the english champions and they were the defending european champions.

the group stages now are merely a formality. you can predict the two team to go through in the majority of cases.

It's all about the money.  Every team is guaranteed at least 6 games now, 3 of them at home.  Imagine how much TV revenue would be lost (worldwide) if Barca went out in September.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

I hope UEFA investigate those Ferdinand chants the Chavs were singing tonight. Terry belongs at Chelsea, he, like most of their fans are complete utter cun.ts.

Funny old game, the top clubs seem determined to make mistakes and give the reds time to catch up.

there isn't a hope in hell of an english club winning the champions league. barca and madrid are so far ahead of everybody else it's scary.
