Are you serious? 6-7 games are enough for you reach such a conculsion? Downing is our potentialy most talented player after Suarez and you are writing him down after such a short period? Yes he has been disappointing thus far but come on give him a break. Aqua wasn't cut for English PL football so i wouldn't even mention him.

That's funny. I'm sure people are making the same conclusions based on Carroll after what, the same period of time?

So what are you saying? Those people are wrong as well. Players should be measured through out the season ,be it Carrol ,Downing ,Adam ,Hendo and Kenny. To do otherwise it's just pathetic and not serious.

Our style doesn't suit him, I know people don't like Andy much right now but if we persisted with Downing and Andy playing at the same time with Luis BEHIND Andy and not in front of him I think we would see more goals.  Right now no one is benefiting from Luis' hard work really because we don't have the type of player that will support him very often.  Carroll might play ugly and what not but give him enough time/games and I am sure that the goals either from him or someone else will come more so than they are right now.  The problem as always with Andy still remains that all our CBs do is hoof toward him and hope he knocks it down.  We -should- be able to play both styles with Andy, Luis, Downing and Kuyt on the right but for some reason we don't seem to be able to pull it off mostly because of our CBs imo.

If anyone in our side could actually finish a dog's dinner he'd have several assists by now.

has to play down the left IMO, hes  a direct player with a good cross so his strengths should be utilised, hes wasted on the right where he lacks the trickery and any sort of right foot to make it work, he always has to cut inside and the any decent full back will work him out withing minutes.

Lots has been said about Henderson, but for me the real dissapointment so far is Downing.

He offers the team NOTHING. Can't get behind the defence; can't beat his man 1v1; does'nt provide enough cover for enrique; crosses are poor...He has zero assist so far...

For an experienced international player, he has been very average!
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

he has been disappointing ill give you that. Even more disappointing than his performances however is Kenny's consistent insistence on moving him to the right flank regardless of his performances down the left flank...

Regardless, he's one I'd be looking to replace with Maxi in the near future until he deserves his place in the side...

somebody on here pointed out that there has been a real lack of creativity from the center of the park. lucas and adam, if we're being really honest, is pedestrian at best. they're great at spreading the play and in lucas's case, tracking back but we've sorely missed gerrard's ability to influence the game in the middle of the final third.

i think downing could find a temporary home there, in traditional number 10 territory, behind suarez in a 4-5-1. bellamy could start on the left wing with dirk on the right.

during the early days of the season, we all saw how good downing was at changing positions and being where defenders didnt expect him to be.

Thought he had a great first half... If our players knew how to finish he'd have a couple assists by now anyway.  He's hit he woodwork at least twice this season, maybe 3 tho.  I have been disappointed in the last month with him... He's been horrible.  I thought he had a really productive first half, but like everybody else really died in the second.

If Kenny persistingly use Steward, Adam and Lucas, what are you going to do?

Frustrating player

Clearly has the talent to do what we bought him for, but seems to lack the confidence to do it. His crossing/passing & shooting has been poor and i don't know why. He just looks average whenever he plays for us.

We all know he's been out of form recently but it's a good statistic he's got here:

Mins per chance created (Total chances)
Downing: 41 (23)
Bale: 38 (24)
Young: 38 (17)
Lennon: 38 (10)
Walcott: 79 (10)

I wonder how much Enrique has :D

Wasn't there a lad here that used to post stats, Oz something, haven't seen him for a while.

Well he did sign Stewart & Adam, Kenny must see somthing in these players that we don't.

I have no idea what that could be... :upside:
