I'm disappointed. Meireles is a good player, and we've gone from having far too many CMs to being a bit light, certainly in experience and creativity.
I'm disappointed that Meireles handed in the transfer request. I can't see him playing much more for them than us. But he has moved to a club managed by an old manager, and I can understand why he did it. But I don't like any player handing in a transfer request that late in a window, and feel like a club should reject a request like that.
However, FSG and Kenny seem to have agreed on a developing youth policy, and Meireles hasn't been first choice, so in a sense the owners and manager have made their bed and must lie in it. And given this window, I've no doubt that come January if it is obvious we need an new CM the funds will be there.
I'm disappointed, but I'll get over it.
