I am not looking for the spectacular from him.
I am looking for him to do anything to hurt the opposing side!!
We don't need anymore "5 yard sideway players"

A midfield of Kuyt, henderson and Lucas....

Lucas passes 5 yard sideways to Henderson, Henderson the same to Kuyt. Kuyt goes 5 yards up the wings and remembers he can dribble past a defender for his life and has no pace and passes a 5 yard back pass to Henderson who in turn passes 5 yard sideways to Lucas and so they continue for an eternity until Downing gets the ball and makes something happen.  :no

Especially great vs teams that park the bus to allow them to all get back and defend...

Why do you all think the Manure up the road are so successful?
The have Nani, Valencia, Young. The have pace to burn, they take on the defenders. And most importantly the opposing team won't have the time to get eveyone back behind the ball!

Ok you say they have Nani, Valencia and Young. I say we have Suarez, Gerrard, Downing. There, tit for tat. Come on mate, you really are from the Red Cafe sent over to here just to wind us up aren't you? Your disparaging remarks about the players that play for the (supposed) team you support have gone way over the mark and you are starting to look a tad silly. Unless you are in indeed from the Red Cafe?

Sorry that I am not some lemming who believe you can't critize anything about the club, about any player and just religiously take anything the club says or does as gospel.

So I call a spade a spade and see clear as day as Henderson shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 in the league and immideatley the thought police aka lemmingsquad comes out and tells me I am either deluded or a manure fan.  :no

But sure, Henderson is a good lad and if he goes to the paper and tells how much he loves the club and how good Suarez is every other week we will all love him and be blinded from the dross he puts out on the field....

st micks right in saying he needs time to settle in and is guilty of trying to much but he has shown enough ability to be able to develop with us.
i'd much rather him on the wing over kuyt anyday and imo the rw is definately much stronger this year with his inclusion.

penguins has some valid points and from what i seen so far of manure the speed at which they counter attack is unreal and that is something we dont have.
im not saying henderson is as good as nani, valencia and young but he is much better than what we had and thats improvement imo and he should be given time to settle in to a new club and a new team before he is totally written off.

Needless to say I'm keeping out of this one

Obviously those here haven't got a fkn clue what they are talking about. Still though it's funny to watch people talk like they think they do.  :D

Thing is with people on here there has to be a scapegoat. Now that Lucas is considered decent they need that spot filled.

Your repetitive sht is becoming annoying .. The whole scapegoat and people not giving players a chance and all that ...

Fcking boring as hell...

By any standards, the guy has been disappointing so far whenever played for us.. If you dont agree with it then fcking say why you dont or at the very least offer an opinion of your own .. Having a go at other posters for expressing what many believe is a valid opinion doesnt make you as smart as you seem to think it does...

Back on topic.

For me hes a central midfielder and not a wide player. Still shouldnt be in the side ahead of Meireles, Gerrard, Lucas or even Adam, but if we are persisting with him in the side then we might as well play him were he would produce his best football.. Hes decent at keeping possession when hes not attempting anything risky, and he seems to be someone who is willing to learn and work hard to improve different aspects of his game... Besides that, he offers very little to warrant selection imo.

Very astute observation Tubby :nod

In the interest of fairness, I'm a "glass half full" type person.  Those that are half empty are probably more critical and see things that I don't.  You need that for good debate.

henderson shows that when confident the player you would compare him to the most actually is........... a young David beckham?

You could see a weight off when that went in, superb. Got a break of the ball and a simple moment like that can make such a massive difference. The lad played alright today after a nervy, somewhat tentative start to his career at Liverpool. Hopefully now he can puff his chest out a bit and play some football with the shackles off and show us what he can do.

I notice the anti-liverpool brigade are absent when a player they criticise proves them wrong.

I'll hold my hand up and say I've been rather underwhelmed with the lad prior to today.  But, he showed what Kenny saw in him today and may that long continue.  His goal was taken really, really well and he made some incisive passes and fantastic crosses.  He was also a bundle of energy today and big part of our fluid pass and move exhibition, interchanging with Kuyt, Suarez and Downing very nicely.  More of that, lad, and doubters like me will STFU. :D
