I don't understand why we are reportedly willing to accept 9 million for him... No way! Jose!

"Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has been handed an Anfield lifeline by manager Kenny Dalglish.

The 27-year-old Italian international spent last season on loan at Juventus.

He was expected to return to Italy this summer - either back at the Turin-based giant or with Fiorentina or AC Milan.

But responding to rumours of Aquilani's departure, Dalglish said: "We have been delighted with him in pre-season and we are delighted to have him as part of the squad."

Keep him.
I have been banging the Aqua drum all last season. He is capable of being a class act. And class acts are not easy to find.

Keep the lad.

and play him where? according to Lawro this could be Dalglish's strongest 11...

.               Reina
Kelly - Agger - Carra - Johnson
.        Lucas - Adam
.   Gerrard - Suarez - Downing
.              Carroll

where would he fit Aqua into this set up?

We need more than 11 players to win the league. We'll need different systems and his skill will be useful when teams park the bus in front of the goal.

Having people like him on the bench instead of Spearing (no offence) is what we need.

People where banging on all last season (me included)about how sh!t our bench was. Well now things are looking somewhat rosier no matter who is in the starting eleven.

yeah fair point. is he gonna be happy warming a bench then been picked for the starting 11 against the teams that park the bus...  which tend to be lower level teams who just play to kick us about and brick the goal up. he isn't gonna want it I tell ya

I think we need to get rid of either Aqua or Mereiles.  They are far too similar for me and dont think we need them both
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I say we keep aqua and let Raul go. Think aqua have more potential to shine than Raul this season. Aqua is exactly what we lack off last season. The creative spark similar to that benayoun brings us. But key is that he must want to stay and fight for a place as I do not think he will be starting every match.

Sorry Des but that's a load of nonsense.

Meireles has proven he can do it in the EPL with his performances and goals in the last 2-3 months. He was arguably our best player once Kenny came in.

I would love to see Aquillani given a chance (as I think he can do a job) but I just cannot see where/when he will play.

The only reason I can see us selling Raul instead of Aquillani is if there are no firm offers for Aquillani and Kenny is forced to move on a sellable asset to balance the books!

We have many central midfield players. Yes maybe we could afford to lose one of them, but at the same time at some point in the season they will all be needed. I would sell neither.

He just scored against Spain.

Actually the whole team started playing better when he came in.
