The Chelsea striker has hit out at his former club six months after he moved to the Premier League runners-up and feels that their quest for silverware is destined to fall short.
Fenway Sports Group have allowed Kenny Dalglish to invest over £100million in players in a bid to restore Liverpool's position at the top table of domestic and European football.
But Torres insists that his and other significant departures, such as Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso, were triggered by an apparent lack of ambition from the Liverpool hierarchy.
“Liverpool’s future isn’t looking bright,” he told Aftonbladet.
“I always gave them a 100%, but it was a difficult situation. Even though I felt like I was a big part of the club, you have to also look after your personal ambitions.
“For me, that is winning trophies and unfortunately that doesn’t look like a possibility for them.
“It’s no coincidence that Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano and myself all left Liverpool. It was always about ambitions. I played for Liverpool for a few years and had some great moments.
"But when a club like Chelsea, with bigger potential, come calling, it’s hard to say no – especially when it looked impossible to win the league for Liverpool."
Torres secured his £50million switch to Stamford Bridge at the end of the January against a backdrop of acrimony from supporters after he submitted a transfer request to Anfield chiefs as the transfer window was starting to tick down.
And the Spain international, who has scored just once following his arrival in West London, admits that he struggled to comprehend the sight of fans burning shirts bearing his name.
“I understood the supporters frustration," he added.
"But it was very difficult seeing them burn my shirt.”
Well he is definitly fitting in at Chelsea, classless C.UNT!
