I agree but I get the impression that kenny is being diplomatic and only will accept him back if Juventus fail to meet our valuation.

If he truly wanted him here he would of made it very clear he was staying by now.

LIVERPOOL are facing a hefty loss on Alberto Aquilani as they prepare to pay Roma the final instalment of his transfer fee.

The Reds have a deadline of June 30 to hand over 5million euros (£4.4milllion) to the Serie A oufit.

That will take the total outlay for Aquilani, who was signed by Rafa Benitez in August 2009, to 20million euros (£17.6million).

Aquilani hasn’t pulled on a Liverpool shirt since the Europa League qualifier against FK Rabotnicki last August and the Italy international is unlikely to play for the club again.

The 26-year-old spent the season on loan at Juventus after an injury-plagued first year at Anfield.

The Reds hoped Juventus would sign Aquilani on a permanent basis but they have so far been unable to agree a deal.

Juve failed to take up their option to buy him for £14million and the ECHO understands they were only willing to offer around £6million.

That is a long way short of Liverpool's valuation and their interest has cooled following the signing of fellow midfielder Andrea Pirlo and the appointment of new manager Antonio Conte.

Aquilani, who has indicated his desire to remain in his homeland, has also been linked with AC Milan and Inter but sources in Italy say they are unlikely to make a bid for his services.

Liverpool must decide whether to bit the bullet and off-load Aquilani for a cut price or call him back to Anfield for the start of pre-season training next month.

The Reds are unlikely to allow him to go out on loan again in the knowledge his value would decline further over the next 12 months.

Whatever fee Liverpool get for Aquilani, who played in 32 of Juve's 38 league games, they will have to pass on 5% to his former club Roma.

The player's agent Franco Zavaglia has refused to give up hope that a compromise with the Turin club will be reached.

“All season Juventus have always given me the necessary guarantees that they want to keep Alberto,” he said.

“The next 24 hours will be decisive. Any eventual economic agreements will follow after Juventus make their decision.

“If Juventus can’t do a deal for Alberto and he has to return to Liverpool, then Milan would certainly be a destination that he would accept.”

The decision to sign Aquilani as a replacement for Xabi Alonso two years ago has proved to be an expensive mistake as he struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

Under the terms of the deal which brought Aquilani to Anfield on a five-year contract, Liverpool paid 5million euros up front and then payments of 3million euros in January 2010 and 7million euros in June 2010 with a further 5million euros due by the end of this month.

There were also add-ons based on appearances, Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League and them winning either the Champions League or the Premier League which have not been triggered.

Cant be bothered looking into it but i thought the add on's were much different to whats described above.  I thought we were paying installments over 4 years or so.  Im probably wrong though :D

Anyways, the guy doesnt wanna be anywhere near this club.  His agent is basically saying as much when he says "If Juventus can’t do a deal for Alberto and he has to return to Liverpool, then Milan would certainly be a destination that he would accept.”

Sounds like he would do anything not to come back here.  Get rid for whatever price.
Stupid decision to buy him, even worse decision to send him on loan when we often needed creativity in CM this year.

Huge mistake signing him in the first place when we already knew he had a long term injury.

Was just as stupid sending him out on loan though.  Gerrard in particular and Meiriles both missed games this season and we could of done with some more options/creativity in Midfield.

I said it during the time we sent him on loan that it was a bad decision and that we needed his creativity.

Isnt this the most annoying thread on the foum?  :suspect:

'Aquilani, who played in 32 of Juve's 38 league games, they will have to pass on 5% to his former club Roma.'

32 out of 38, how come the w@nker was always injured for us?

My artist's impression of Aquafcuk:  :Oo:
