So do I, if Kenny wants him that's good enough for me.
The only reservation I would have is if someone like N'Zogbia was available for a much smaller fee.

He's worth at least 30mill and even if we do offer that, I'm sure a number of top European clubs would be willing to match that offer.

Inter, A.C Milan, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and even PSG have a better chance of signing him imo..

Top player though and any side would be lucky to have him..

I think £20m is too much for Downing, but that's what ya get these days with Man C and Chelsea tossing money around like it was confetti. Villa don't have to sell, and Downing is an english international winger. When we talk of the likes of N'Gog costing 6 million, 20m for Downing dosen't seem that bad. I doubt we will get anyone better either. No CL football means few opportunities for the best players.

Look at history though, the likes of Ronnie Whelan and other "unsexy", undynamic players. It aint about how well Downing played at Villa. It's about how well he'll play at Liverpool. I think he'll slot right in. I'd rather a steady, trustworthy winger like him than someone who's gonna take a while to settle. I love that Kenny is instilling a hardcore of English players. We'll be solid this season I think. The likes of Man City will be as erractic and inconsistent as ever.

Money dosen't by success. It can buy the players that will bring success though...if spent well. Kenny knows his stuff! In Kenny we trust!

Selling Aquillani and Meireles isn't good IMO. With question marks over the fitness of Gerrard and Henderson late back to pre-season we will be short of attacking MF options if we sell both Aquillani and Meireles. Unless KK has Adam earmarked for an advanced role?

That leaves Lucas and Spearing as the defensive MF options. Neither named gets me overly excited but then I think back to the 2nd half of last season when they were awesome together.
