Juventus interest in owen - Bad deal

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Latest from Skysports :

''Owen emerges as Juve target

Real Madrid: Juventus are reported to be lining up a sensational move for England captain Michael Owen.

Reports claim the Italian giants want to take Owen on loan for the rest of the season when the transfer window reopens in January.

Juve are on the look-out for a striker after it was confirmed this week that French international David Trezeguet would be out for at least four months following surgery on a shoulder injury. end.''

If as suggested that Juventus are interested in Owen, how did we fail to create an 'auction' for Owen when he was sold for the derisory £8m.
Where is our 'business accumen' ? Our Board and Senior executives have  a lot to answer for !!

Get over it, we got rid of own because he was in a 'comfort zone' at anfield and needed a new challenge but new players come and go and we should move on now.

Don't mind him going.
I am just amazed that our business management is so inept, that we make so little money on the deal. Partcularly when we need the brass for new players and Stadium's etc.
We do not appear to be very sharp in the 'Buying and Selling' Dept !!

Exactly, we buy for top prices and sell for low prices.
Whichever way you look at this it is bad business.

Juve wont pay much, not that it matters, I don't suppose we were smart enough to negotiate a % of next sale. :Oo:

Considering we were going to buy Nunez anyway and Owen went for £8m I think we did ok for a player that could have left for nothing 6 months after ???

We should have sold him at the end of the 02/03 season imo but he did cheat the board a bit by saying he was going to sign and dragging it out to the last minute  :(

Paul - are you absolutely convinced that we were going to buy Nunez?  I know what was said, but is this just club PR to help sell the deal to the fans and make the lad feel wanted.

We need some better Wheeler/Dealer expertise in the club management.
There should be someone who is constantly in touch with other club's and agents talking about possible player availability/valuations of player worth and player salaries etc. So that when an MO type situation comes along, we can immediately create an Auction and obtain the best price. Equally, we also need to have better knowledge of current player availability and value, so that we can purchase at the right time for the best prices.
Currently Cisse looks about £10m overvalued.
Two examples, one of a low value sale, the other of a high cost purchase.

Some say that they have moved on since Owen has left but I don't believe that because we still make topics about Owen in LFC discussion board who is no longer a Red.

A day before there were any links with Real, there was a link with Juve over the summer so I wouldn't be surprised if he did go to Juve.

however in all fairness, people take the p#ss out of the scottish league as it's a two horse race every year, but the premiership is heading that was aswell. :(
