With the greatest respect to some of the posters on here, it is just totally beyond me as a Liverpool fan of 35 years why I should be expected to get behind the current manager and to support his dreadful and life-sapping brand of football!

Most posters on here are agreeing that the man needs to go and as soon as possible, however others are saying we should support him whilst he is still here!

In my opinion following the 'Liverpool Way' and NOT barracking this man out of the manager's position will only do further damage to the club! We will lose Torres, Agger, Reina and maybe other top players. It is clear they don't want to play for Hodgson and it is abundantly clear that Hodgson doesn't know how to play them?

Hodsgon has massively alienated the fans with his dreadful press conferences and his overall PR. But he has also come across as quite a nasty piece of work; bitter; spiteful;  arrogant; misguided; destructive.

The UK press support him unequivocally because as we all know the majority of the UK press want to see Liverpool FC fail miserably! Hodgson has neither the dignity or the self awareness to realise that he must walk away from his current position immediately. He must be pushed! The fan base is in a position to make this happen. In match protest chants; banners; email campaigns; Why should we stand idle when this man is CLEARY not fit to walk in the footsteps of Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish, Evans, Houllier, or Benitez.

It is seriously depressing being a Liverpool fan at the moment and in some ways even worse than when the Texas cowboys were in charge.

At least we still had Rafa at the helm...a flawed football manager (no one is perfect)...but a man who cared about the club and the city...and showed this on numerous occassions!

Hodgson is a chancer...a fake of the highest order. It is a downright embarrassment having this buffoon in charge of England's greatest football club! To all the Hodgson apologists....'Wake up and smell the f****n coffee'. Ferguson, Wenger, Ancoletti and even ol' Arry must be laughing their bloody heads off at the current situation at LFC.

Interestingly, Hodgson regards Ferguson as a 'close' friend. The only reason old whisky crater face is friends with Hodgson is because Hodgson is a perennial loser!!

Does anyone on this forum honestly believe Ferguson would be best buddies with a competitive and successful manager??? (Mourinho; Wenger; Benitez)

Just as the Liverpool fan base acted to get Twit and Twot out of our beloved club...the fanbase needs to ensure that Hodgson does not see 2011 as Liverpool manager!!

p.s. If he can take Joke Hole, Poulsen, Konchesky and Carragher (one of the architects of our current demise) with him then so much the better.

FUMING!!!    YELLSUB66

I haven't been on here much of late and I was putting it down to the amount of work i've been doing in work but when I think of it I've had plenty of work on in the past and always made time for this forum, I guess it's just that it depresses me coming on this forum in the Roy Hodgson era.

The time can't come soon enough, The Face rubbing Hamster needs to go NOW!!!

Hodgson braces reds fans for more Champions League exile

Roy Hodgson has warned Kopites Liverpool's Champions League exile could last longer than just this season.

Reds fans are desperate to qualify for the Champions League after last season's disappointment and reclaim their seat around Europe's top table.

But Hodgson has told them to be patient, warning his rebuilding work at Anfield could take longer.

He claims his priority is to do the job right rather than quickly and alluded to clubs like Leeds who are still paying the price for chasing the dream.

"I would plead for patience really," said the Liverpool boss. "Of course we want Liverpool to be the Liverpool of old. We want to be up there every year competing in the Champions League.

"But we might have to accept that it will take us more than a few months. That would be a small price to pay if you get it right. You only have to look at teams who have tried to stay in the league or get into the top four.

"Clubs have virtually been destroyed by people making bad decisions. It's not because the owners haven't given money or supported the manager. It's just that they have brought in the wrong people."

Hodgson has drawn up a long shopping list for owners NESV for next month, which includes Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Johan Elmander, Gary Cahill and Adil Rami, as he continues his rebuilding work.

However he refuses to put pressure on John W Henry in his first transfer window since buying the Reds and says he does not expect the American to splash the cash.

NESV feel the market is overpriced in January and are keen to develop the policy begun by Christian Purslow of investing in young British talent.

"If the owners want to invest a lot of money, that's up to them," said Hodgson. "If we find the right players, I'm not going to be saying to them

'don't do it,'. I'm not that stupid. I want to work with the best players possible.

"But with the change that has gone on at the club and the new regime, it would be sensible for the new owners to be a bit more circumspect and get a closer look at everything.

"I don't think it would be a bad thing for us to keep testing out this squad of players.

"Before I start bringing players in, I've got to be aware that when I do, I will be pushing Shelvey or Kelly back. I've got to be convinced that the person coming in is the right one. That's the dilemma. When do we give the youngsters a chance?

"With that in mind, we have to be careful. My message to them would be - and it's no secret because I've had discussions with John about it - if the right players become available, and we really think they will push us on, we should go for them.

"We shouldn't hesitate if they feel they can do it. But I don't think we should be encouraging them to throw a lot of money at it straight away."

Although Hodgson claims Liverpool's squad is weaker than the top four and Tottenham's, he claims he will not just sign players for the sake of it.

"Sometimes I'm frightened as a manager that I might get rid of a player who will be good for the club on the basis that there might be a name out there that looks a bit higher than the player you already have at the club," he said.

"When that player comes in and you work with them for two months, you realise that the name is great and it rings big bells but, in actual fact,

he is no better than the player you let go. He maybe even worse.

"I don't think this group of players will let the club down. I think they will play plenty of good matches between now and the end of the season.

"Whether we are going to start breaking into the top four or hitting the heights without some additions, I'm not prepared to say. I would like to keep my powder dry."

what do you want him to say? "I Guarantee we’ll finish in the top 4?”

He's being honest. We need to improve our squad because our current one isn't good enough.

what is the point of moaning about roy when to me the owners should come out and tell us all what there intentions are instead of keeping tight lipped about everything. i personally think they dont want to get rid of roy till the summer. it makes more economic sense for them to keep roy not spend much in january then review at end of season how hes done.

Tis true.

Some on here fail to realise that CL this year is a must. If not, then you can guarantee Torres is off. Gerrard and Reina are also strong possibilities.

we should bring in rykaard or lowe immediatley and give them £40-£50 mil in the transfer window, spend it on Adebayor and adam johnson from city, buy a left back and also bring in scott parker. We may well then be fighting for 4th by the end of the season.

I know Roy hasn't said anything wrong in the post Ciggy posted. He was being honest, but it just shows that he isn't up to the job and he isn't the right man to lead us. we CANNOT afford to stay in 7th or 8th position every season, we must get back to CL footy, that is Roy's MINIMUM requirement and we aren't expecting too much on that front, because when we  achieve the minimum we build on it for 1 or 2 seasons and mount a title challenge. If he can't get the best out of the players he has, then we need a new guy who can and has the necessary skills to do it.

IMO

In fairness to him (hodgson) using an incling of that thing we call objectivity, the headline is a bit sensationalist and to top it off the person posting it along with their comments really twists the nature of the quotes to keep in line with their apparent agenda.

The article makes some sense in parts and I can understand his viewpoint, I mean where did it get the last manager promising a fourth position finish? He's playing down our chances, yesteryear it was better off for us to be seen as the underdogs, that's how it was during the large part of the norties and I HOPE Hodgson is vocalising this.

With all that said and done, this does not mean believe I Roy is the right man for the club. I think people (like said person who posted the article) are only too happy to twist his words in persuading others to join their militancy. He isn't the right man, we know that from the way he sets his team out, we know from other interviews he gives that he tends to have foot n mouth disease and we'd be better off departing ways sooner rather than later. Yet, I'm not going to jump on any soundbite as an excuse to chastise the bloke, that is simply pathetic, childish, feet stamping what ever you'd like to call it and it's not  up my alley.
