Honestly there is too much to change, nothing we can do right now will immediately change our fortunes, it's going to be a VERY ong process. We need more youth and more proper footballers, too long have we struggled with people that can't play quick passes and be effective in tight spaces so we're constantly pressured and we simply can't handle it with this group of players we currently have. We need proper footballers who can handle the small areas well and pass quick one twos to get out of those situations and force teams to back off us and let us play football. Carra nor Skrtel should be in our first choices at CBs, Kochesky is a backup at best, and we have absolutely no one to play on our left wing effectively on a daily basis.
I would get rid of Carra, Stevie, Skrtel, Maxi, Jova, Babel, Poulson and N'gog.. probably Meireles as well, i'm not convinced on him yet but not sure if he's not good enough either so the jury is still out on him. Raul's passing is not up to the standard I was expecting to be honest and I'm just not sure he has enough quality in him but it is still early. I'd much rather have a player in the mould of an Aquilani alongside Lucas to be perfectly honest, Aqua was class but his injuries, price tag and fragility in the end was the difference it seems. We need to raise our standards BIG TIME and the simple fact is that none of these lads would get anywhere near the first team in any top club in Europe.
This is excluding Stevie obviously, but I don't think he wants to sit around for what will effectively be us rebuilding from the ground up almost and I would want a change in captaincy to bring in the new wave of players which no doubt is certainly on the horizon imo. Although it would be a hard pill to swallow I would not object to selling off our stars and starting fresh with young players with bright futures. We need to move on from Stevie and Carra, they have taken us as far as they could imo. If they want to stick around and help usher in the new bunch of players and really do what's best for the club then that's lovely, but if not they can move on. I'd love to keep Nando and Pepe but they want to win now in their primes so I would let them walk if they felt the need to do so.
The bottom line though is that we need to restructure the club and rebuild it fresh, let the players that don't want to be here for that walk and go from there. I don't think we would take long to get a quality side for us out on that pitch again if we have the right people making the decisions, we're Liverpool we can attract quality players. The squad needs a huge injection of money and a change in philosophy to be one of the top clubs in the world again. All this is going to take someone with a lot of guts to get the ball rolling and frankly Roy isn't the man to do it. I'm hoping that our owners will eventually step in and do what is right for the club.
Post looked like a big clusterfuck, fixed.
