If they hadnt have bought the club Hodsgon wouldnt have been our manager now, not that they had ever heard of him mind they where probably told by Purslow he wouldnt rock the boat and demand a big transfer kity and wouldnt mind players being sold.
Not like his predecessor who sussed them out and told the fans what they where up to, and thats where it went wrong for Rafa it got personal between him and them once they went behind his back for Klinnsman everyone realised they where up to no good they even admitted the reasons for wanting Klinnsman because he had good contacts with Nike and Adidas not because he was a world class manager that would win us trophy after trophy and get us challenging no because it was a money making scam.
Of course Rafa is not free of blame either he frustrated the fuckin life out of me at times, I hated all them draws, I hated some of his buys and knew they would flop. And the Alonso saga was the end of his reign here I didnt want Gareth Barry and wanted Robbie keane even less. This is where it started to go pearshaped and when he bought Aqualani who was out injured for 6 months of the season was mind baffeling when what we needed was a direct replacement immedialty to slot into our midfield.
Instead we spent the whole season with the Lucas & Mascherano combo Lucas spent most of last season indisguise as a crab with the CH behind him doing the same there was no room for crabs in this team though as Torres thrived on the through balls from Alonso once the fella that was the engine that kept us going left the team fell to pieces added to the fact of Rafa taking his eye off the ball and went to war with the Yanks well it all went Pete Tong.
His sacking was sly whilst he was on holiday he didnt know anything about it, his replacement was sounded out before he was sacked and once everyone became aware of who the replacement was most people where dismayed with it being Hodgson.
If any of you get time please download our game against Fulham at Anfield last season please do it, what you see in that game is what we have seen all season since Roy took over it was a ten men behind the ball job and they camped in our half for the 90 odd minutes, we peppered their goal threw the kitchen sink at them but it ended up nil-nil, it was one of the worst away teams that had ever visited Anfield, it was more Anti-football than Stoke, it was a joke that these where masquerading as a football team in the supposed best league in the world.
But it wasnt just this game that made me not want Hodgson I seen him as an Allardyce, Phil Brown, Mick McCarthy type manager, and never thought for one minute that Liverpool Football Club would hire such a medicore manager who has never stayed at a club for longer than two years, whos away record has to be up there as the worst ever in his 105 away league games since 1980 with Bristol City, Blackburn, Fulham and Liverpool he has won only 13 times.
I respect Fergusson I hate him but I respect him for what he has achieved in his managerial career, I respect Wenger for the type of football his team plays, I respect Ancelloti because of what he has won, but I cannot respect Roy Hodsgon just because he is our manager who has won nothing of note in 35 years of management.
respect has to be earned and he hasnt earned none from me because he is not a world class manager our club deserves.
And I am worried some what of what the new owners are going to do about the situation, what must NOT happen is Roy Hodgson gets his own way and brings in his OWN players, because you know what our season and season to come are going to be like.
He has one way of setting up his teams, he has no Plan B, C, D. His methods are flat back four, five across the midfield and the loan target man upfront some thing Fernando Torres is not and never will be and Roy will change this he will bring in a big target man that fits in with his tactics because he wont adjust his to fit around Torres.
What we have seen all season will continue under Roy, there will be no gung ho attacking play unless we go behind, there will be no keeping possession something our team has had the majority of for the past 6 years.
We will continue to be outplayed by the likes of Wigan, Stokes, and Blackpools of this world if he stays.
Put your hand on your heart and tell me you want these tactics and performances to continue, they do Liverpool football Club no favours what so ever, they do our players no good what so ever and the fans are in complete uproar because of it.
Martin Broughton told us the reason he got the job and it was because the british media like him, not because he would have us challenging on all fronts no because the gutter press like the english manager because he's one of them, you seen what Rafa had to put up with in the press and imagine he was still in charge they would have had him hung out to dry with these performances over the past four months, they would have had his head on the chopping block by now is there a word about good old uncle roy?
Is there shite, whos the latest victim? Roberto Mancini, who will the spotlight be on this week? Fabio Cappello, see the trend here xenophobia those pesky foreign managers coming over taking our English managers jobs, err hello when was the last time an english man won the league or the CL?
English managers are not very good the best one of the bunch at the minute is Harry Redknapp and pretty soon Capello will be houded out by the British media if results dont go their way, and when they want the new replacement there is only one man for the job.
And his name is Roy Hodgson if he's good enough for Liverpool F.C. he's good enough for England.
Great post Ciggy. I like the lucas being crab part
couldn't describe it better myself.
