Thommo I  think you need to read what I said more clearly when I said No one is given immediate respect they all earnt it through their actions both on and off the field .

I did read it. And Im still confused. Are you saying that Paisley, Fagan and Kenny didnt have respect from the supporters the instant they were announced manager??
Are you suggesting we had no respect for them until they had won 15, 20, 30 games or a trophy?

Yes they had the respect the instant they became managers - guess why Thommo ?

All three had already earnt the respect of the fans for the work they had already done at the club before taking on the managers job - same with souness same with evans .

Shanks earnt the respect after taking the job , same with GH and same with Rafa

Hodgson has to do the same

Ok I get the point. They worked for the club before they were managers.

The same way both GH and Rafa did - by showing themselves to be part of us , by results on the pitch, by acting in a way that makes the fans feel they know what it means to be part of the club, to also be a fan of the club . Neither Rafa and GH earnt instant respect - they earnt it over a period of time .

Has been at the club for nearly 5 months now and has hardly taken a step forward in fact we have gone backwards - in those 5 months - better results , better tactics and better setup and better soundbites in press might well have made the fans feel a bit more connected to him - buddying up to ferguson was a big mistake , not defending Torres against Ferguson was wrong and finally slating the fans

Problem is times have changed as have attitudes
I had my problems with Benitez while he was here but never once even thought about calling him names.
Sadly people think its their "right" to say whatever they want no matter how offensive, not thinking their behaviour is in the slightest bit unreasonable or unacceptable.

Respect is earned, it is not a god given right just because a person becomes manager of LFC. Therefore i give Hodgson no respect, because he has not earned it
