MOTM for the second week running for me. Thought he was excellent and probably the only outfield player for us who didn't give the ball away on a consistent basis.

He'll never ever get the praise he deserves from some quarters though. I haven't seen Sky's coverage from yesterday thankfully but apparently they didn't give the lad any praise whatsoever, probably so they could carry on pushing their "gerrard must play in central midfield agenda".

A bad reputation can be very easily gained but very hard to get rid of.

I've had my doubts about him and still do to an extent, but he played very well against Bolton, you can't argue against that.

Maybe he was given more time in midfield than he is against other sides but so what? You still have to use that space and time well and he did. Excellent display of passing, hardly gave the ball away and I thought his spacial awareness was spot on, he made space for himself and was always willing to receive the ball.

Good display.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to watch much of our past couple of games, but by the sounds of it Lucas has been doing quite well. This is of course very nice to hear, but he still needs to be much more consistent with his good performances imo. Even more focus than before will be on him now that Masch is no longer here, and hopefully he can use this in a positive way and start taking more control of games instead of letting them pass him by (the games as well as the opponents that is).

He might have mate, but in all fairness that still isn't saying too much given how rather rubbish we've been on most occasions so far. Don't get me wrong I am in no way slating Lucas, just stating that I hope he takes a step up this season, in which the chance is definitely there for him to do so.

Fair enough , but what i'm getting at is that he has stepped up this season . He's also getting a regular run in the brazil team which also helps his confidence . The lucas meireles partnership over the last couple of games has showed promise imo .

As mentioned I haven't been able to watch that much of our last couple of games, but I'm glad he's apparently stepping up his game and starting to build a promising partership with Meireles. Let's just hope he/they can build on this promise then, as again we need consistency and not just glimpses of good things (which goes for our entire team so far this season tbh) if we are to climb the table. Onwards and upwards starting with Chelsea (hopefully :)).

the thing is, the muppets in the media and a lot of fans will always use other players poor form as a stick to beat him with. if he's our best player (which he has been for the last two games) it's because the other players in the team haven't performed and that's made lucas stand out.

he's never going to be your flashy type of player but i'd take him anyday of the week over someone like anderson at united who cost over double what lucas cost. he's what i'd call your consistent seven out of ten performer.

Made up for Lucas

He has taken so much stick over the past 2 years, probably deservadly because he has been poor but his attitude is brilliant. Never once has he complained he just gets on with it.

Stoke to revive £4m Lucas bid in the New Year

Tony Pulis has launched a £4m bid to sign Liverpool midfielder Lucas in the New Year.

Stoke boss Pulis is ready to move for the Brazil international and offer him a fresh start at the Britannia Stadium.

Lucas nearly joined the Potters in the summer on transfer deadline day but Roy Hodgson scrapped the deal hours before 6pm.

But Pulis will step up his attempts to land the 23-year-old in January as he bids to boost his midfield.

Lucas has played the last six games for Liverpool but could be allowed to leave if Hodgson needs to raise funds.

Buying Lucas at 4mil would be a steal.  We give him tons of :censored: but he is cementing a spot in Brazils teams now and has only improved.  Still young, wait a while or for a higher bid before selling him.

Yeah right.

Even if if wasnt playing well the fact he`s now a starter for Brazil means he`s worth twice that,  maybe not to a prem side but the markets bigger than that.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

£4m for lucas?

absolutely hilarious that rumour. why the hell would he want to go to stoke. he wouldn't touch the ball as they just hit it long and bypass the midfield anyway. :D
