No one is more important than the club and therefor Roy needs to go. Sacking Rafa was only right if we could bring in someone better. Not many of those out there.

I agree.

Nobody is more important than the club and benitez should only be sacked if somebody better was free.

We knew he had failed and took a punt roy would do better, it looks like he won't but you have to take chances, you cannot stick with a loser for fear of the unknown.

get rid of the last guy was right, he is gone, ancient history, I "guarantee" he will never be back - fact!

So it looks like we now know the answer to my original question. OK maybe Rafa had to go but you should never take out a decent manager unless you have someone of equal or better quality ready to step in. Replacing him with Hodgsen was a monumental mistake and at this point it's turning into a case of damage limitation.

There are few managers around who don't make mistakes but Rafa's judgement seemed to be flawed in the latter parts of his tenure.

Rafa needed the structure I outlined in the CP thread, the mistake he made was wanting to be responsible for all aspects of the club for creating success - clearly way beyond one man's ability.
