Net spend is a myth - we should be focusing on the actual benefits of any money spent by a manager.

'We've won f*ck all, but the net spend is awesome'

'ooh, ok, carry on, well done, get another 20 players we wont have in 6 months, but spend some more money'

Net spend is very important as it means we have to sell to buy. Net spend means we dont really invest in a improved squad we just replace one player for another. If we buy older established players their value is also likely to drop while playing for us because of their age. Younger players can gain value ofcourse. But overall for a squad with no net spend we are unlikely to see much improvement overall in terms of depth and quality.

Its excuses ciggy.

At the end of the day if it isnt answer my question regarding our current squad that Rafa left behind.

Is it good enough ?

Did Rafa have time and money to shape it as he wanted ?

(disclaimer) i am not saying he had unlimted funds. Just that he has had plenty of money to buy and sell players.
To build a squad how he wants it.

He for me in the last 18 months failed miserably.

Ask Arsenal fans if they are happier with low net spend and the shareholders making money.. or if theyd like a trophy

95% of the teams in the premiership have to work on budget constraints like that.
Does that mean no club can improve unless they have money ?

The squad is better than what he inherited and better than Roys ever had to work with its not excuses.

If people want to keep harping on about he wasted millions and its there in black & white for everyone to see they just have their blinkers on.

He spent 3.5 million a season and has had to sell to buy since them b@stards arrived.

he had some good buys and he had some terrible buys, them 76 players you keep mentioning where everything from kids of 14 years of age up to players in their 30's.

he didnt actually sell 76 players as 30 odd of them are still at the club now.

And Ben even feckin Wigan spend more than 3.5 million a season thats a disgrace for a club as big as ours even Stoke and Sunderland have outspent us over the past 3 seasons.

Answer the question ciggs.

Do we have a good squad ?

I dont care what he was left with, that's not the point.
What he has brought in is also not the point.
He has had plenty of time to build and shape a squad.
Did he do a good job ?

All you see is net spend. you'd be a great Asrsenal fan. Not caring about position, as long as the net spend is good lol

He brought too many, i posted that long list, that was just the ones we've heard of.

How many times??? And if we are so skint, why is he buying 14 year olds? You cant see the wood for the trees hun

Whats Arsenal won the last 5 years?

I can see the wood for the trees but our fans hatred for Rafa leaves them to use any common sense.

We have a decent squad and one that should not be in the relegation zone due to us having a completly inept manager in charge.

dawson it is normal to buy 14 year old kids incase they are the next Gerrard, Rooney, Messi what a stupid thing to say why did he buy 14 year old kids.

The sooner Roy goes the better and he can take that useless Poulson with him.

Dodging the questions again and hiding behind other clubs or managers failing ciggy.

Whether hodgson is good enough doesnt mean Rafa was.
