boodiddy1 where in that post did I mention Konschesky? Or Roy bringing in older players I said no such thing, I posted an article from Dion Fanning what I agree with, everyones entitled to their own opinions you know?

Guess what mate I am not the only one down in the dumps about the club, people must think I get a kick out of it but that couldnt be further than the truth.

My own feeling about the whole situation is I feel Roy is just the caretaker manager until we are sold, and I think he knows this aswell.

You bettter than anyone know we have to sit tight. Blaming Roy for bringing in 28-29 year olds is OTT. We dont have the money for the very best younger players.

Yet, up the east lancs, a ginger minger who is 35 is having a great start to the season. Are they moaning cos he's past it? NO! Where we moaning when Gary Mac came at 35 and had two cracking seasons? NO!

It seems far too many LFC fans are dooming everything we do. Just cos Konchesky plays for Fulham, hes . Yet i remember people saying Kromkamp (remember him) was class! Fact is, most on here dont know anything about the players we are linked with, then read Wikipedia or watch youtube and then jump on the band wagon.

Konchesky is far better than that slouch Insua. IMO Insua is slow, too small, no pace and really a typical rafa player. ( Hard working).

One big issue that concerns me on the pitch side just now is how much Carra is declining! His influence on positioning and barking orders is still there, but there is too much tendancy to sit deep so he doesnt get exposed over the top. I really think Roy must look at playing Agger in there with a.n.other. Maybe even young Wilson against the lower placed teams. I really think father time is catching up with Carra.

The Gerrard dilemma? its obvious Stevie isnt the hard tackler box-to-box player of his early career. He's been playing away from that position for too long and seems to have lost a bit of bite. So, where shall we play him. For me i think he needs to be central in a midfield three, where he can break forward. Lately, i feel he's been too far forward continuously with Torres. What about right side of midfield? Had one of his best seasons there in 2006-07.

Its going to take awhile for Roy to gel a team in his mould. Fluidity is probably the main problem with us just now. I'd like to see some pace out wide. Kuyt is good for some games, usually against the bigger sides but against opp that put 10 behind ball, he becomes ineffective. Why not try Babel down the right? He is right footed after all. Would not need to check inside. Sneak in round the back with his fair share also i think.

A long winded post i know, but ladies and gents, its going to take time, with our structure internally, its going to be hard also. As we stand financially, we have to get things right this time. By buying british, i believe gives you more chance than getting the cheap foreigner. Blooding some youngaters also would benefit the team and shows the fans that academy is working. I really believe there is some great talent in there. acheco, Amoo, Shelvey, Ince, Wilson, Suso, Mavinga. Could easily blossom into fine footballers playingwith torres, gerrard, agger, maxi, poulsen and Miereles.

Superb post, missed that one. Keep posting fella a little optimism never hurt anyone.

Cig, the rest of my post wasnt aimed at you at all. Just the line on your constant doom and pessimism. Its bad, i know. Im just not having that everything is so bad. Certain players dont stay and legends like Kenny wouldnt keep so quiet if it was so rotten. I dont believe it. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i really dont agree with what Dion Fanning writes. He's going far too far with his pessimism.

I hope Roy doesnt just become the caretaker manager, because for me, its evident that he will give the british youngsters more of a chance than houllier, benitez etc did, and what rijkaard, klinsmann, hiddink whoever, will.

Look mate I have my reasons for my doom and gloom Ive been over it upmteen times I dont want to bring it into here so to cut a long story short.

Purslow was brought in over a year ago to find new owners/investors (He failed at his job)

Broughton was brought in by the banks to sell the club (so far he has been fruitless in his job description) we are just over a month away from administration/or another re-finance for twit & tw@t the 6th of October is the date that decides our fate.

Ignore that at your peril its there in black & white, so forgive me if I am more worried about that than Hodgson/new players/tactics.

On to Hodgson IMO he should NOT have been given the job in the first place I base this on his past he has won nothing of note, and he is 63 years of age, he has had more clubs than Robbie Keanes has had transfers.
He doesnt stay in one place for to long. His tactics are boring and negative and he has won 4 away games with Fulham in two seasons, and being totally honest he looks completly out of his depth. And this job could kill him he will experience pressure like never before.
Managers before him have felt it even when we had decents owners, he couldnt have joined us at a worst time.

The people who appointed him are bankers they have zero credencials to give orders on who should and should not be our manager.
Their job discription act was to SELL THE CLUB !!!

Well Im sorry Martin Liverpool FC exsists to win trophys not steer it away from that iceberg in the distance.
So where are we up to now? The club is for sale, and I think Roy is just the caretaker up until a new owner picks his own man, look no further than Man City and Mark Hughes for example.

I like Roy hes a nice fella but in other circumstances he would be no where near the Liverpool job, and he knows it.

I share LFC's concerns about where and when we press the ball. I've said it since the first time saw us play under Roy, and I just can't see how we will consistently roll inferior teams over unless we change it. That said and in fairness to the manager, we are five from five in our competitive matches against inferior teams this season, so I suppose you never know.

Other than that however, in every single other aspect of the way Roy is going about things, I really like the job he is doing. Even our concerns will be easy to address and I'm pretty sure it will happen, just as I'm fairly sure that Roy is itching to play more of a 4-4-2 than the current 4-5-1. I don't think for a second that the manager is out of his depth, nor do I think he is a stop gap until we are sold. I was happy when he got the job, and I'm happy now.

Roy's candour when talking to the press is more than refreshing. His purchase of players in their late 20's is understandable, he needs playes who can do a job NOW, not 2-3 years down the line. Like some others in here, so far I've found our football less than inspiring, I can only hope it's temporary tactics from Roy, with an ageing Carra as one CD and a pair of revolving CD's filling the other spot plus a so far unsolved problem at LB it's no surprise that we are playing so deep . Obviously some time is required to allow our new signings to bed in and once that happens hopefully we'll then see more aggressive and confident tactics, and hopefully as far as our aspirations to finish in the top four are concerned it won't be too late.

In all fairness if we play a higher line, with the slow paced defenders we have, not including Glen Johnson, we'd be thru balled all game.

Also to play a higher line, our strikers (Ngog when playing) and side Mid-fielders would have to hold the ball up a lot better to retain posession. Lpool play far too Direct to move the defensive line up higher. So if Roy can get his players to implement a clean short passing game and succesfully retain posession (Man Ure), it could be effective.

But I can imagine Skrtel being the last Man tracking back, and with his bad timing in the tackle at the moment, I can see us conceding Pens and picking up Y&R cards more regularly.

Being a geriatric I can still remember most of the major rebuilds in the past and every one brought the same complaints from people jumping the gun.
We're "too this" or "too that" I really think that it is FAR FAR too soon to be laying judgements on Hodgson. How many times have we seen new managers come into clubs and immediately turn them around only to fall by the wayside within months.

Results are papering over the cracks at the moment . We are playing poor football and so far we have been punished by the stronger teams because of it but have got away with it against the lesser teams . We need to change and soon - we are doing exactly what Hodgson did at Fulham - sitting deep and letting them have the ball trying to soak up the pressure and conceeding possession . We are not pressing or harrassing the players on the ball and we are getting dominated . We havent been punished by other teams as they havent had the quality to punish us but the stronger teams will .

Also we arent creative enough when we do have the ball and we arent creating enough chances .

But remember benny, hes got cole to come back and Meireles to come in too, they arent sit back and soak up pressure players, so I cant see why the tactics would carry on like they have, but we will just have to see

For our sake and Roys sake they better change and sharpish the natives at Anfield wont put up with them tactics, there is already loads of grumbelings about it things could get tasty inside Anfield if they dont.
