@Ciggy, you were told to get lost, and you were assumed to be happy with the defeat because you appeared to be so. you had not posted in a long time prior to last night's defeat and you came in with an "i told you so" attitude which didnt help matters considering the manner we were defeated.

as for management wise, the previous manager was given 6 years and it was only towards the end of his tenure where many posters began to lose faith in him. he was given time. unlike Roy who was immediately slated by posters like yourself.

he may have not had much experience in terms of silverware but he has a huge amount of experience in the continent. besides, he has never really had the pleasure of working with a group of players as talented as Liverpool has. he took over Inter when they were pretty screwed up in the league (17th i think) and led them pretty far in Europe the next season. he may not be a household name but neither were many of our more successful managers during our glory years.

either way, irregardless, he should be given some time to show us what he has instead of having his head called for after 1 loss. if he screws up, then of course there would be more doubts about him from both parties but he should be given ample time to show us what he got. rafa brought us as far as he could, and eventually lost the plot, as discussion which has been done to death.

i was always under the impression that Liverpool FC had the most respectful fans and are rightly noted to be the best supporters. but going by your attitude in your recent posts on the match thread, you defy everything i mentioned in this paragraph. that may  or may not have been your intention, but it certainly felt that way.

I havent posted because I have been in liverpool for 16 days.

And the liverpool Way went out the window once the club was sold and the ex manager was called fit to burn by Liverpool fans. People cant have it both ways the same people that slaughtered Rafa cant get a cob on now that people like myself dont think Roy should be anywhere near our club. I made my feelings clear from the minute he was appointed and I havent changed my stance, winning games will only change that.

Cigs, football died when money took over. Abramovich basically. And Murdoch before him to a lesser extent. Its not a sport, its an entertainment industry. People talk more about the finiacial situation than the football, its a shame but football is dead, and has been for years now.

If that doesn't happen, I'll be happy to give certain posters a few firm nudges in the right direction next time around.

BREAKING NEWS - BREAKING NEWS - BREAKING NEWS:

This is the internet - you can't stop the bickering (it's too easy to do so).

(sorry to the thread opener, I do not mean to sound like a smartass on your account, but the above statement is the truth unfortunately).

According to the doom and gloom brigade:

-Torres and Gerrard were leaving. It was nailed on.
-Roy was a ‘yes man’ who would let the owners sell everyone.
-We wouldn’t attract any top players because they hadn’t heard of ‘Woy’

What irks me is this has all been proven to be sh!te. Some here claim to be in the KNOW, but all they do is spout idle gossip as if it’s gospel.

My particular favourite is connected to Martin Broughton. Despite being one of the county’s most astute businessmen, he’s prepared to destroy his career (and lose millions in earnings) by short selling our assets to Chelsea. Why? Because he’s a Chelsea fan.   Welsh Wizard would cringe at some of the stuff these guys say.

Then there’s the childish glee and “I told you so” from last night. We’re two games into the season and we’ve got ‘fans’ on here turning on the new manager. It’s ludicrous. It’s like following Newcastle Utd.

I don’t care where you come from (Liverpool, London, Livingston) It’s not the Liverpool way to turn on a new manager. It never has been and it never will be.

It's not the Liverpool way to turn on any manager who is in charge off the club - new or old . The manager is always supported no matter what - unfortunatly that has changed in recent years . It's highly hypocritical for people to say that Liverpool way is to support new manager when they themselves didn't support previous manager . A Liverpool manager is supported until the day he leaves the club not until people decide to suddenly stop supporting the manager

I've just posted this in the match thread but it's worth repeating here:

The problem is, somebody's got to decide to move on, for the good of this place.  Someone's got to say, you know what, we've had all of these same arguments before--the only difference being the shoes are all on the other feet now.  Laza's comment above is spot on--the die-hard pros and antis have merely swapped shirts and have settled back into the same old patterns of p!ss-taking and wind ups.  The hunger to settle old scores is crowding out any interesting discussion and you can forget about fair and balanced assessments of our situation.  And the lunatics will continue to run the asylum until one of two things happens:

1) The hard-core partisans decide it's not worth it anymore and ship out/turn over a new leaf
2) The mods revert to arch-klink mode and start carding and banning the sh!t-stirrers (amidst all the usual cries of injustice, hypocrisy, favoritism etc. that both sides resort to whenever they're in danger of be removed from their soap box)

Look, I'm more than prepared to go the way of option 2.  In fact, if the kind of idiocy we've seen in this match thread gets repeated in the next one, you can count on it.  But, I'd much prefer that posters take a hard look at their roles in this thing and choose option 1.  The past few years on here really have been a low ebb but we've got a new manager now so it's time we collectively turned over a new leaf.

And round and round in circles we go.

Some on here will not let the Rafa sized chip on their shoulder go. He's gone and he's not coming back. Time to move on
