Don't get me wrong obviously he's no world beater but I really would not have a problem playing him against any opposition and that says something about what I think of him.  I doubted him at the start but he hasn't let us down for quite a while now.

He is a really good reader of the game and he is excellent in the air.  On current form he'd be my first choice CB at the club.

I thought Kyrgiakos put in a great shift last night. He's been hit and miss at times though to be honest. But, that may be down to Benitez' use of him.

He showed Benitez last night, though, that he's up for some regular 1st team football. But, will Benitez pay attention? I wouldn't hold your breath.

The next game should see Agger on the left (who looked more than capable there) and Joey the Greek in the centre.

He did well last night again, but I don't think he's good enough for a regular berth. Good buy at 1.5 mill though it has to be said.

 wtf?

he's been a good signing

i'd consider him excellent competition for all the CBs and since his first few (understandably) nervy games, i don't recall him disapointing or looking out of place at all. :buttrock

I thought he was excellent last night, never looked afraid to get stuck in, positional play was good. Didnt really notice anything special passing wise.

Good squad player who deserves a better run in the side.

He's great until we find the right guy to take us forward for 5-7 years.
But both he and Carra arent young so we need to be looking for replacements soon - so sad that Martin hasnt fulfilled his potential, that tackle at Chelsea changed his career.

We don't really need our CBs to be passing the ball about, they only need to pass to their full-back or to the nearest midfielder which should be Mascherano - although that in itself is probably a worry.

He was solid enough last night, I think the three CBs played well.

10 Worst Transfers of 09/10

Kyrgiakos(6) and aquilani (1) on that list. Goal.com is so lame. The uthor James Daly needs to find another job.

Don't worry about it mate the media have always had trouble understanding what gives a player cult status ,Kyrgiakos has been a decent acquisition and has made me backtrack on my earlier opinions of him ,merit where its due and this Fella has played admirably in the games he has participated in lately

I actually like Kyrgiakos. He is a trier and he looks the type that can pop up with a goal now and again too. We lost that goal threat when Sammi left and Agger, Carra and Skrtel don't score enough. Obviously if we have the chance we should bring in someone else too but I hope we hang onto him.

I think he was a steal at 1.5 million.

Yes, he is primitive, but he does what a defender should do and from a defensive point of view he has been the best defender this season.

He is a good tackler, great header of the ball, just very sound defensivly. So he can't dribble and his passing isn't top notch, but he does what is says on the label, defend.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. I don't really know what anybody was expecting for £1.5m anyway. Nobody ever thought he was going to be a long term answer.

I love a bit of old skool no-nonsense defending :D

He's been doing what he is suppose to do. He had stablized our defense from the Air point of view. Nothing fancy and just get the job done.

Just wondering who run faster, Sammi or him :p

Sometimes it's almost as if this guy is our best pure defender.  It's a shame he lacks pace and isn't that great with the ball at his feet.
