I think Roy could sign Messi on a free with Barca paying half his wages and Benny would be against it on the grounds that it was a "big gamble" :D In all seriousness, if Masherano is going to be sold (and we assume he is) then we need a replacement. This fella looks like he fits the bill, nice swan Roy :buttrock

I keep forgetting we have loads of momey in the bank waiting to be spent.. oh and of course we don't need to buy astriker do we, coz we have Ngog.

Its called cutting your cloth. He is a good experienced player who will do a job. And for only 6 mill.. I'm happy with it.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Benny lad, noone has said he would be an improvement on masch . He will be what we can afford and for that i think roy's got a bargain and a very good player in that position . Not world class , but very good considering the funds.

i think lucas can replace mascherano anyway in the water carrier role

its not a hard job to replace.......

you need one, but it aint actually that hard to be effective in that role

Guess we will have to wait and see mate , I would of preferred to put that 6 mil towards a striker as IMO we have cover at cm even if masher left , so IMO it's a wasted 6 mik on a 31 year old .

no.

because you need to replace macherano and seeing as scott parker is ridiculously overpriced, 6 million for poulsen (who is of similar quality) is a good signing

We have Lucas , Gerrard and Aquilani for the prem and Spearing and Shevely to come in for cup games . IMO no need for another cm . Risky I know but would rather go out and get a striker

It's looking increasingly to me as if Alberto isn't going to figure heavily in Roys plans. If we can get somewhere near half our money back or even a bit less, it's probably time to bite the bullet as far as he is concerned. Unfortunately however, I don't think we will.

Redman in wales wrote:i dont think he is the next step up for us. I think he's a stop gap to add midfield strength and bite when mash leaves because we cant afford anything better

We all hope that he can come in and do a "didi-esque" job and improve the balance of the side, but we'll have to wait and see

Exactly. When I was reading about step ups and all that I just had Didi Hamman in mind.

I think Didi Hamman wasn't better than Alonso, but I think that Didi Hamman at his Liverpool best would have come VERY handy last season.

Mate if we are only going to spend 6 Mill on Poulson then we have a good sum of whatever we get from Mascherano left to spend on a striker..

Good piece of business by Roy if this is true.

Well so far masher hasn't gone yet . And if this means Aquilani is pushed out more then I will be even more disappointed .

Well Masch is inevitably going to leave. The price is just a mystery still. Anything less than £25 Mill though and its robbery!
