This signing is worrying, what I would have expected Woy to sign at Fulham if he could. Players at their peak or just heading beyond, not that expensive and not that exciting. Some are getting excited by whatever Woy does, I just look at the names in that he signed and not Rafa and think "they would look great to a Fulham fan, but surely we should be looking at younger and better". It's no wonder the media are linking us with so many 28+ year old journeymen footballers

Let's not get too excited by signing Cole, sure it seems a bit of a coup but he was on a free so we weren't exactly outbidding clubs on the transfer fee, and time will tell whether he plays enough games to make an impact

I agree it's not the sort of player who's going to take us back to challenging for the title but, are you saying it's worrying because Roy is targeting the wrong players or worring because we don't have any money to buy better players?

Some on here seem to thinkk we must have all players under 30.  Do you not remember Gary macs influence on the team? Going back to 86 double winning team. Dalglish was 35!

Look at Arsenal, most would agree with a bit of nous and some 30 somethngs in their team they might wiin something. Only last weekend, MOM a ginger little runt who is 35 and has Asthma!

Poullson  being 30 isnt really a worry. What matters is his performances. I'll play it safe and say he'll be better than Lucas, but not as good as Masch. He's the best in world at what he does.

Went for average..He has always been an average player all his life so I expect no change..Am not worried by his age though that is  why i would have gone for Marcos Senna instead..It depends on ability.

Poulsen was a quality performer for both Sevilla and Schalke domestically and on the European stage, only recently has his career stagnated.

What he will add to the team is much needed to steel, height and IMO he can play football but he's not on the same level as Mascherano as a DM. I am a tad concerned about the Dane on a disciplinary level as he makes Mascherano look a saint in comparison.

Fingers crossed Roy can help him regain the form of the stints he had in both La Liga & the Bundesliga, if so then I'd be happy.

We need someone with a bit more balance in that position. I'm bothered that we're playing a full on DM rather than one who can defend or attack. We have to win the games against the bottom half of the season and playing what is effectively a fifth defender is not the way to do that IMO. Sure against the better sides you need a player like Poulsen (his style not his quality :D ) to protect the backline but against the weaker sides we need someone with a bit more of an attacking nouse

Stevie Heighway on the wing

We'll have to just wait and see.  We might go more attacking against the small sides.  against arsenal i expect a DM for sure.

Average at best who isnt getting any better and is on the slide.  Should of went with a younger option.  Losing Mach and replacing him with Poulson is a huge step down. Should be getting better than this.

Agger said it would take him a while to adjust to the PL ??? He'd better adapt fast if he's 31 now...i agree with most people on here when they say £6m is too much. I think we should have signed a younger player...about 27 or 28, of course the transfer market is inflated to :censored: so forget about it.

I hope the Masch sale goes through soon. Maybe then we can buy a striker!

course he can replace mascherano

i remember games last season when lucas played in that water carrier role instead of mascherano and he did a similar job

the water carrier role is important but there isnt really that greater diffrence between the best one in the world and the 20th best in what they give to the team.

I think he will provide that essential ingredient we have been missing since Hamann left the club ,  ,so I feel its a clever acquisition by the manager .... I also suspect he will be deployed sitting deep generally breaking up the opponents play and then redistributing the ball intelligently .... good signing (if the deal eventually goes through )  by an astute manager
