I agree that we need two strikers and neither of them will be Adebayor - he will want to go to Italy most likely. Looking at the City situation i think the best option we could go for would be to get Bellamy back. Some great pace and power, together with his determination. But have to admit this is unlikely. Remy would be a good option but lets hope this deal gets moving again soon as it seems to have stagnated. One big man and one pacey forward would be a lovely combination to bring in.

Well looks like we can forget about signing Ireland

He is going to be part of the deal that brings Milner to City in 27.5m player plus cash swap

City are mental doing this deal

Villa wanted 30m, does that mean citeh value Ireland at 2.5m?
He`s a much better player than that, we should offer them 5 then they can pay the 30 and still have some change.

Thank God for small mercies - Stephen Ireland will be a headcase at another club, just not ours !!

Did he really succeed at villa? Decent signing, but his fee in joining villa is a lot closer to his value than the leprechaun's current valuation

How many current England players are really worth more than £20m?

Roy is leaving it late as far as buying strikers is concerned. I have a horrible feeling he won't sign another striker. I can't see what is stopping him going for Bellamy, unless of course, he doesn't rate him.

Ireland would be a good buy, considering how young he still is, but it would appear he's going to Villa. I also wouldn't say no to Santa Cruz.

These 3 players I've mentioned won't make their final 25 squad, I reckon.

I believe the problem is we got no money if Mascherano doesn't go. Inter needs Balotelli's money to buy Mascherano. And Man City is having trouble off loading their unwanted players because they're paid handsomely to be on the bench. So basically Man City is causing a bottle neck...

Anyway we're kinda screwed when it comes to getting a proper back-up striker for Torres because we're depending on other clubs to make the transfers.

We just have to hope and pray that our very own eggnog starts to step up...

listen its obvious what inter milan are doing. The waiting till the last minute to bid for masch. They know masch wants out and we are strapped for cash. And i bet they will bid 20 million for him.

If Villa get Ireland plus a lot of money for Milner it's the deal of the Summer. Ireland is the better player of the two IMHO, and this will make them serious contenders.

Ireland would make Aston Villa serious contenders for the title ?

I'm not sure about that one, but i agree on Ireland being the better central midfielder of the 2.. He's certainly one of the most underrated players in the division... Reminds me much of Guti, Pirlo(early days) and even Riquelme.. Excellent at bringing others into play and his vision and creativity are a joy to watch... Im sure he'll be snapped up by one of the big clubs in a couple of years if he moves to Villa...

As things stand though, I'm not sure we have room for him in the squad under the current setup unless someone is sold... He wouldnt get in the starting 11 ahead of Mascherano-Gerrard-Cole, and with Lucas-Aquilani as backup we seem to have that department pretty well covered.. Much as I admire what the Italian has to offer, I'd take Ireland ahead of Aquilani.. Not too sure Hodgson is quite ready to give up on him yet...

No mate I had to cut the post short as I had the kids kicking lumps out of each other. Not serious contenders for the title, but definately serious contenders for the top four. I had previously written them off as being barely in the big seven which we are involved in, but Ireland will definately improve them IMHO.

I am absolutely astonished that nobody (including us) has really gone for him. I know he's a nut nut, but even so.
