Corrected  :p

Bit harsh on Young, he isn't the worst defender in the world but his signing and any interest in Stilyan Petrov would only add to my fears Woy is still buying as if he were still at Fulham.

He's decent back up. So we get offered 5 million quid for a bloke who is "back up" but we shouldn't sell. Meanwhile, we offer 2.5 million quid for another bloke who is "back up", but we shouldn't buy.

Who's the better player out of the two? The 2.5 million quid guy of course, but we shouldn't buy him because he's "sh!t".

We got offered 5mil for a player who will probably be worth double that in 3 years time. And we offered 2,5 mill for a sh.it player who isn't good enough for LFC. The difference is Luke Young was a 'flavour of the season' for maybe a year or 2 and now he's deadwood where as Insua is a young up and coming player who has already been capped by Argentina.

Was Young capped for England at his age? In fact I don't think you will find many players as good as him in his age bracket.

Bav - i am concerned if you actually think that about Insua.
I will give you the fact that he was capped by Maradona, but so were about 80 other players during that campaign.
He is nowhere near good enough and still wont be in 3 years time.

I actually dont want Luke Young at all but he is a better player than Insua without a doubt for me.
Insua was one of the reasons we were shocking last season.

To where? He's still listed on LFCTV's current squad list, although without a squad number, and wikipedia says a fee was agreed on 17th July but terms hadn't been agreed (at the time)

Didn't Aurelio have no 12 before? Might have been wise to change squad number

I would have thought Aurelio would have been given the number 3, unless he wanted number 12.

Insua still has no number but is in the squad for today's game.

Never got Insua.. he was not developing IMHO. Yes he is young, but he should have been showing more. Very average. Cant defend adequately, no pace, no flair, cant cross, cant dribble and cant tackle!

From today´s 'Daily Telegraph' - "Emiliano Insua’s move to Fiorentina has collapsed after the Argentine failed to agree personal terms".

For me it just looks like Insue is looking for a big payday. Either now or next summern when his contract is up.

He is on low wages now and I am sure Fiorentina is offering him a payrise, just not enough for Insua to accept.

Now keeping an unhappy, below average leftback to just sit out the remainder of his contract seems like a bad plan.

I'd tell him He won't get a single game if he stays and can rot in the reserves if he doesn't move on.

He's young and obviously hungry for 1st team football. Im sure under Roy he will get chances to play. Especially if Aurelio is our only other option at LB.

Maybe he has turned down Fiorentina because he wants to stay and play for Liverpool - fair play to the lad if it's the case and he could be solid enough back up

Can't really see him staying now Aurelio's re-signed, or what role is Aurelio going to play?!?!? Don't need two back-up LBs, and I'd be very worried if Woy was stupid enough to do what some on here think is a brilliant idea and play our full-backs as wingers.

How did that work out with Riise.............................?  :no

Insua's move from Liverpool to Fiorentina falls though

Liverpool defender Emiliano Insua's move to Serie A side Fiorentina has fallen through, the Italian club's sporting director has confirmed.

Pantaleo Corvino said they had been unable to agree terms with the Argentine who came to Anfield in January 2007 from Boca Juniors.

The two clubs had agreed a fee last month but discussions with the 21-year-old have proved fruitless.

"Insua is not coming. He had high economic demands," said Corvino.

"I was in talks with the sporting director at Liverpool, who is our guest here, until two this morning.

"At the end we decided to give up on Insua, who will remain in England.

"The player would have entered into Fiorentina's technical and financial plans, but we couldn't reach an agreement with the player. Today, the deal can be considered finished."

Insua has played 62 games during his time at Anfield, scoring once.

--------------------------

ok i s'pose. he's young, and hopefully he can improve as long as aurelio stays fit.

Insua is not good enough to start in our first 11 at the moment. - imo.

I would have prefered to sell him for £5m and bring in Figeroa for the same price (as was rumoured)
