He has been a very good player for us in the last few seasons and I wish him all the best if/when he does move on. Not sure if we will get 35 million for him but hopefully what ever we do get (20-25 million IMO) will be given to Roy to strengthen further.

Where the hell have you been?

In the past, Shanks, Whispering Bob, Kenny and Evans bought people who WANTED to play for Liverpool. Houllier and Rafa bought players and many were foreign.

You cant expect foreign lads to burn for the club the same way as Emlyn, Thommo, Case, Fowler, Barnes, Aldo, Gary Mac, Carra, Gerrard did, and do. Yes there are some notable exceptions bless them - Molby, Brucie, Sami, Henchoz, Pepe, Arbeloa and Fabio, but there have been a mountain of journeymen who were never blessed with their passion - Morrientes, etc.. and I´d put Masher there.

Some will disagree however Masher for me always had one eye on the exit door, Tevez was too great an influence on the lad.

What I meat was, if Inter low ball us with bad offers, that part of it is not going to have anything to do with Rafa

Rafa will have no say in that . Anyway i thought all the players wanted to get a way from rafa , not friggin sign for him again

Well it looks like football man Branca is up against our wa.ker Christie the banker , seeing as its him who handles all the transfers

Yet last season when he wanted to leave he still looked like he cared more than for instance carra and gerrard.

Disappointed he wants to go but the guy was a total animal in that defensive midfield role, when he came in in 07 he was outstanding on the run to the Champions League final and barring a blip at the start of last year has easily been on of out most consistent players over the last 3 seasons. I hope he is moving for family reasons though the state the club is currently in I suppose we can't really blame him for wanting to get the hell out of dodge. £25m for me sounds about right, hopefully we can invest in a player more in the Alonso deep playmaker role though they are not exactly growing on trees. Id cartwheel if we signed Banega but there is no chance Valencia will let him go after getting shot of Villa and Silva. Im gonna go out on a limb and suggest if we cant find a player to link the defense with attack we should think about dropping Gerrard back as more of a deep playmaker and letting Aquilani, Cole, Jovanavic, Kuyt and Maxi rotate behind Torres and perhaps finally get some decent cover for him.

Whens the new season start the jitters are starting to set in!

Igor :D you put a smile on my face.

You as well as a couple of others want the "digs" to stop, you've said so yourself countless times. I think though you've said this or more occasions than I can remember because you don't like having your noses rubbed in it. I.E there is life after Rafa, we can attract players like Joey Cole, Gerrard and Torres will remain at the club and Roy isn't a yes man. All these things that have happened in the last few weeks contradict everything you and your bezzies had people believe if Rafa ever left. You've had to be quiet and bite your lip recently because you couldn't imagine someone else coming in a doing a decent job, hell it got that desperate Roy's holiday destination was used to dismiss his footballing credentials. Therefore it doesn't surprise me that while all this positive stuff is going on you want the digs to stop, because at the end of the day you've got no digs to throw back. Until this little beaut about Masha pops up and true as the 'pro' you are, you clutch at a straw and throw it out. :D
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

I'm afraid I have to totally agree with In and Out on this. It's the clutchiest of straw clutches. We obviously have to forget that Masherano wanted away from his mentor last season and wanted to play for Barca. If Barca came in for him, it'd be interesting to see where he went.

I'm thinking of forming a Rafa rememberence society (RRS) for them. They can meet up every Sunday, don their false goaties, end every sentence with "no?", watch re-runs of Istanbul and study rotational diagrams till their hearts content.

Rafa's ruined our supporters :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

mascherano was quoted before the world cup as saying that benitez football was his kind of football, so its nothing new or surprising about him wanting to go to inter. it's probably fair to say that in the presumed disharmony in the dressing room last season he was one of the ones that was happy with the manager. i don't think i've ever seen a suggestion that every single player, or even the majority, wanted shot of him.

Thank fu'ck hes gone me and thousands more say.
At last weve got a manager with common sense at the helm. Good luck to Rafa an mascherano in italy. It will probably suit them more over there. It will be interesting to see what Rafa does with Mourhinos sloppy seconds...

So true Nan :D Imagine my surprise when people began to leap onto the fact that there's a good chance Masherano would go to Inter. You could have knocked me down with a feather  .

as i said before Roy should open the door and say that any player that wishes not to play for the club should go now.
