One who is better than Insua and who isn't injury prone like Aurelio might just do. Agger is capable of filling the gap if the new guy gets injured (and we need another CB if only for cover). For the optimists on the forum, there is even the possibility that Kelly or Darby could do a cover job there if needed.

Both of them are right backs - Darby is no way near Insua in terms of ability and Kelly is very very good but a right back or CB . We do have Robinson who has potential but as you say we still need two left backs and how much of the budget will that take ? A freebie and one for 4 mil max ?! You can't really pick up top quality players for that price - certainly not the peel of player we need to step us up a level

Well the last two rated Wigan players have both gone for 15 mil plus - if figeroua is highly rated by them he won't be cheap - also depends if other clubs are sniffing around - that puts his price up a bit more - ball park price for me is 9 to 10 mil

Arbeloa was a right back who played successfuly at left back. Third backup we're talking, not first (new guy) or even second (Agger) choice. There's also Jack Robinson. Let's not dismiss all the options and possibilities out of hand. After all, in our most successful prem season ever, we only really had one proper left back in Aurelio. The other one was sh!t (Dossena) and Insua wasn't/isn't first team standard. You don't need two absolutely brilliant left backs. Just one good one who isn't so injury prone, and a decent backup and the odd option or possibility in case injuries decimate the left back slot. Try to be a bit more open-minded about these things.

Still can't see the sense in this one. 5mil for an Argie international? And we don't even have anyone in place to fill in yet either. Warnock didn't even make his first team debut until he was 22.

100% agree. We sell an argie international for 5 million and folks talk of 10 million for an unknown replacement?  Parry's got to be involved somewhere....

Figeroa is absolutely different class to Insua though, in my opinion anyway, Argie international or no Argie international. Insua was a fairly average player to be honest, and even Fulhams left back Konchevsy is a better player in my view. Clichy, Cole, Evra, Bale, Bridge and whoever the feck plays there for Villa are all miles better than Insua, so 5 mill is tip top dollar IMHO. This Figeroa bloke is a good player, a really good player, and if we can pick him up for around 7-8 mill, then the team will improve a lot for the shelling out of only about 2 million quid net.
