He has amazing ability but is incredibly wastefull and completely brain dead. No thanks.

I got the same impression from the bits I saw of him in the CL. I doubt he actually is as bad as Babel though  :D

Don't judge him on the CL games. If that Julio guy is around im sure he will back me up. Id be made up to get him here but I couldn't see it happening. He is destined for Real Madrid or City, silly money ect... although maybe not Madrid whilst Mourinho is in charge.

His performance when he came on as sub against Barca in the first leg of the CL match was positively Cissesque. When they needed to run down the clock he was all 40 yard shots and mazy dribbles. Regardless of ability, the guy is either clueless, a c..., or a combination of the two. Avoid.

Ballotelli is average, just another run of the mill pace and power guy.

Javier Mascherano's agent claims the Liverpool midfielder would jump at the chance of a reunion with Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.

The Argentina captain is reportedly one of the top transfer targets for Inter this summer.

And Mascherano's agent Walter Tamer has done little to quell the speculation, telling Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport: "Mascherano has not spoken to (new Liverpool manager Roy) Hodgson nor with Liverpool.

"After the World Cup, he has switched off but it's clear that he is happy to be a target of top clubs in the transfer market.

"Last season, it was the European champions Barcelona that wanted him and this year it's Inter, the current Champions League winners.

"For him to be linked to Inter has a magical taste...it's a dream.

"Think about it, the strongest team in the world wants him, a team where many of Mascherano's compatriots play and a side that is guided by a coach with whom Mascherano has a personal bond."

Mascherano is under contract with the Reds until June 2012, a potential stumbling block admitted Tamer.

He added: "If it was up to Mascherano, the negotiations (with Inter) would be very easy.

"But he has a contract with Liverpool and first the two clubs would have to find an agreement before we step in."

Tamer claims 26-year-old Mascherano was the subject of an offer from Barca last summer.

"Last year (former Liverpool coach) Benitez turned down a lot of money offered by Barcelona for the player but this is a different market," Tamer said.

"I have not been informed what Mascherano's buy-out clause is.

"I await a call as I am the only one authorised to speak of his eventual transfer."

I like Mascherano the player, even though he offers nothing going forward or creatively.
his tough tackling was especially great in CL away matches were we had to defend for our lives.

But im not so fond of Mascherano the person.  Liverpool saved him from the hell he was going through at West Ham.  Transformed him into one of the best DMs in the world and how are we repayed?

By constant whinging about life in Liverpool and how his poor wife hasn't bothered learning English.  (although apparently she's getting into the Italian quite quickly).
Or how his form suffered cos we wouldnt allow him to join Barca a few weeks after Alonso left.

i hate to be bad to Liverpool players but im getting really sick of it to be honest.  in 08/09 after coming so close to winning the league... Alonso left, Arbeloa wanted his dream move to Madrid, Masch wanted his move to Barca.  Hell, i think even babel wanted out. Its no wonder we ended up going backwards.

Now this year, again its Masch.  Yossi is gone. Riera and Babel are complaining.  Dunno about Gerrard and Torres.  Players need to realise that they are causing more trouble for everyone with all their sh.it.

Yeh Masch has made it pretty clear he is gonna leave.

Hopefully we get a good 30 Million for him and Roy spends what he can wisely

even though i love the guy, of our main assets he's the one i'd be happiest to see go as he's the easiest to replace imo. as you say, £30m is a realistic price for the player considering yaya toure just moved for about that last week.

Masher is a disappointment to say the least but as I've always said, I think he's heavily influenced by Tevez who has made a lot of money thru transfers.

he's wanted out for ages and, if we get 30+ million, then its a fair bit of business. Pointless keeping a player here who doesn't want to play for the club.

Thought despite his apparent willingness to leave he was one of our better players last year, however if we wants to go then let him and we can buy new players.
It's obvious he is on his way.

Agree on that, he would be far far easier to replace than Gerrard or Torres. I don't particularly know why his agent feels he has to mouth off in public all the time though. I'd be dissapointed if we accepted less than £25 mill for him though. Just hope Hodgson gets a decent slice (at least £15 mill) of the monies raised.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Standard Liege captain Steven Defour, according to several reports in the Belgian press.

The versatile midfielder is thought to be on the verge of leaving the Belgian outfit, despite recently extending his contract with the club.

Defour, who was out injured for much of last season but is still highly-rated in European football circles, is expected to command a fee of around £10 million (€12m).

The player has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United as well as the Reds.

Should he move to Anfield he will link up with his former team-mate in Belgium, Milan Jovanovic, who joined the Reds this month.

Possible replacement being lined up for Mascherano? Very good player.

Rafa was supposed to be signing him last summer.
