I see your point. With Gerrard, Aquilani and Lucas (yes Lucas -his best position is attacking MF IMO, Pacheco, Babel etc) we have a few players in that position.

Aquilani might not last that long at Anfield and there has already been rumours of a possible move back to Italy.

Woy is looking to buy british so you would think that maybe Aquilani and/or Lucas might be moved on as a means of bringing balance to the squad.

We may have the opportunity to pick up a a very talented player in Ireland at a cut price given Man City appear to be clearing the decks of some squad players. Gerrard aint getting any younger and I would see Ireland as a ready made replacement for him.

The sorry thing is is that Real were meant to be offering 20m for Alonso last season plus Snjeder

Players like Snejider arent going to go to a club not in the cl and unable to pay big transfer fees and wages

Said before and ill say it again i will be gutted if he goes, one of two players last season who put up a bit of a fight for us, him an Pepe, Javier is one of the best in the world at that position and it will be hard to replace his little snarling , his battling , and his tracking down.

I still think he will stay well i hope he stays because we genuinly cant afford to lose a player of his ability, he is still only a baby playing wise and the best is yet to come from him. From what i can gather and heard last night though he hasnt even made it known that he wants to put a tranfer in , so we will see

I'm sorry Nanny, but for me a DM is not what we need. We need goals, while I can see the virtues of having a very defensive player in the side, not at the cost of more attacking play

With Mascherano in the side we concede 0.86 goals per game, without him in the side we concede 0.89 goals per game. We also draw a higher percentage of games with him in the side, although there are nearly 3:1 more instances with him in the side than without

how about cash + Balotelli? he might welcome a new environment considering his past disciplinary problems with Inter.

That Ballotelli lad seems more hassle than he is worth. Let him go to Man City an let's see ho he gets on with the various ego's in their changing room. The Toure's, Adebayor, Bellamy et all will have a field day with this bloke.

Ballotelli would be another Babel if he came here I reckon.

He has amazing ability but is incredibly wastefull and completely brain dead. No thanks.

Balotelli could probably play better than Babel with just 1 leg. Questionable character but no question about his ability and technique. Technique being the key word, something Ryan has little or none off.
