16-18 PLUS Cambiasso..........anything else is really taking the :censored:.

There is a certain way a player can go.....class comes into it. Personally I don;t think Masch or his agent have shown any. Our bargaining position is fairly weak.

From what i've read, Liverpool want 30 million for Masch.

Yaya Toure has set the benchmark.  Masch is the Captain of Argentina, and generally regarded more highly than Toure.  Toure went for £27m, so Masch has to be £30m+.

I don't give a toss that Toure went to Citeh, the market is the market and for once we need to get a decent price for a prize asset.

With £30m we can make some serious improvements to the squad.

Thing is he has 2 years on his contract. If it were me id have no problem making him mope on the bench but we spent a lot of him too so we might have to accept less than 30.

Not only that, we have no leverage whatsoever as Masch won't sign a new contract. Next summer we won't get more than around 10 million and we just can not afford to not make a deal this summer. I'll guess we'll get around 25, not more.

If he was sitting on a 5 year contract with no real interest in leaving we could probably get 30-35 for him but the situation isn't like that...

I reckon we will end up settling for less. Barca are running into money trouble of their own and Inter probably won't be able to afford more than 17Mil. We will probably end up breaking even on him.

Barca money trouble is rubbish. They can easily fork out 30 mill odd for masch.

They still trying to sign Fabregas and he gonna cost them over 40 mill, add the 27 Mill to that they got from selling Toure.

I think we should sell Mascherano now, he is going to leave soon anyways. May as well make the most money we possibly can while he still has some years on his contract.

See yer then :glare:

Liverpool will receive a transfer request from Javier Mascherano, according to sources close to the player.

The Argentina captain has been dogged by speculation of a move away from Anfield throughout the summer with his representatives refusing to rule out a move to European champions Inter Milan where he would link up again with Rafael Benitez.

Barcelona also remain interested but their recent financial problems have ruled them out of a move for Mascherano, 26, who is expected to inform Reds manager Roy Hodgson that he wishes to leave Merseyside in the next 48 hours.

Only the failure of interested parties to meet Liverpool's valuation would prevent the defensive midfielder securing a move away.

"Javier is looking, to leave Liverpool," the source told ESPN's Soccernet.

"There is no doubt that at the moment he wants to go.

"Await developments, as Javier has made up his mind."

Barcelona seek €150m from bank to cover player wages

Barcelona have been forced to seek €150m (£125m) in bank finance to cover unpaid wages for players and coaching staff, with the club's new president, Sandro Rosell, talking of "cash-flow tensions".

The Primera Liga champions have provided six players who have featured regularly in Spain's starting line-up at the World Cup but there are strong signs the Camp Nou's recent successes have been built on shifting sands.

Barcelona were forced to seek external support after discovering that "there weren't sufficient resources" to cover their obligations. "This week we'll have everything in place to impose a policy of austerity to be able to make savings in unnecessary areas and meet very important commitments such as paying the wages of our players, coaches and employees," said Rosell.

Analysis of the club's finances showed they made only an €8.8m profit in winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2008, and carried debts of €350m. Those liabilities are set to balloon again.

BBC report said they had to borrow £125m (something like that, can't be 'rsed to look it up), BUT that they'd still be able to buy Fabregas - go figure! I'm guessing they won't bid for Mascherano, not that they won't find the money. I'd rather have Fabregas over Mascherano, we all moan the team is negative and love one of the best examples of why we're so negative (the DM)

£20m + Cambiasso and use part of the £20m to bring in Steven Ireland.

Simple :)
