The key here is to lighten the burden on him by signing a capable accomplice. It's clear that neither Kuyt, Ngog or Babel are ever going to score enough goals (15+) per season to provide Torres with significantly less responsibility, especially in "big" games.

As much as others here have scoffed at the idea of a striker such as Zamora joining us, he at least provides (at least in my opinion) more that our current backup strike force.

It annoys me even more to think we got rid of Crouch, Keane, Bellamy, etc

Hopefully our new head of Sports Science/Medicine Dr Peter Brukner can help keep him fit. I know from his time with my AFL side Collingwood that we went from a side that suffered from multiple soft tissue injuries, particularly hamstrings, to having virtually none, which is promising. Hopefully we can reap the benefits of having him amongst our ranks as well.

It annoys me even more to think we got rid of Crouch, Keane, Bellamy, etc

Well Crouch wanted to leave cos he didnt want to play 2nd fiddle.

Bellamy is proof that you can't go swinging golf clubs at colleagues.

And keane is sh.ite.

Wouldn't mind Zamora though

I think it's daft when fans of foreign teams we're playing come on here, always the chance of rivalry and friendly banter getting sour. Why would anyone think a manc, blue or red, would likely make a good house pet?!? (neither has been domesticated, all should be neutered)

Yet people react as if the fan on the street is going to give us some kind of insight into our next opposition!

Never mind Zamora.

We need another striker and I think we should go for that Llorente bloke who plays for Athletic Bilbao. He's a good realistic option.

No really that accurate. Crouch was sold to fund the Robbie Keane transfer. I'm sure his decision to agree to the transfer was helped by way of the fact he could not establish himself under Benitez but in no way was it the main reason. He didn't hand in a transfer request.

Bellamy is proof that you can't go swinging golf clubs at colleagues.

That is solely an internal matter that wasn't dealt with very well. Regardless of his falling out with Riise, he still scored goals for City a year later.

And keane is sh.ite

Stupid comment. You don't turn bad overnight. He was excellent at Spurs for 2 seasons in a row prior to the transfer. He clearly didn't cope well with a rotation system. I (and many others) believe that if we had persisted with him we would of got the best out of him. Regardless, he is better than Kuyt, Ngog and Babel, so you point is?

I think you need to work on your responses. I suggest the 5 second rule.

Crouch turned down numerous contract extensions from the club

Bellamy didn't score enough for us and since leaving after hitting a team mate with a golf club he has been injured q lot and still not scored that many goals

Keane was a wrong signing and didn't work out and afterwards went on loan to Celtic because he couldn't get a game for spurs

Your probably right about Crouch but Bellamy has always been a trouble maker and will continue to be.

he couldn't even resist the golf club swing celebration after scoring against Barca. Rafa was right to get rid of someone like that.

Being Irish, ive always been a fan of Robbie Keane but his career is going down the toilet.
He did sh.ite for us, then Spurs didn't even want him and then he ended up at Celtic for awhile. (while Kuyt is preparing for a WC Final)

to be fair, the golf club celebration was a bit of a joke that all the team were in on. Riise said he planned to do the same celebration if he scored.

You definitely haven't been reading this forum for long if you think my response was aggressive!!

I don't see your point about Kuyt. Are you suggesting if Ireland weren't robbed that Keane wouldn't be involved?
