Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Not bad when you consider he was supposedly moving after a bust-up with Rafa. (Anti-Rafa propaganda.)

Oh, how the tables have turned. He's not going because he's sick of Rafa now, it's because he's a mercenary. (Anti-Rafa face-saving.)

F*ck me, I dispair, I really do. :no

Why won't Rafa take Lucas instead?

Because he doesn't have to shop for bargains anymore, that's why.

He was regularly picked by Rafa alongside Mash. Surely if he got that amount of game time then he's hardly bargain basement.  ???

I'm not bothered whether Mascherano goes or not, but ideally I'd like to see him shipped out if/when we get new owners in. The thought of selling him under these two profiteers is a scary prospect because 98% of his transfer fee will be used to help decrease the size of the debt on the club.

If our next manager cannot keep our key players for whatever reason then he needs to ensure there are player exchanges involved, so our squad isn't depleted to the point where seventh place in the league will be a mammoth struggle.

We don't even know when that might be seaofred if we wait that long he could end up walking on a free. Best to get rid of him as soon as the world cup is over.

How long does he have left on his contract? If it is one or two years then we'll probably have no choice, but I would want a player exchange to involved, that's the only way that our next manager will be able to replace key players.

So would I Nan but I fell the writing's on the wall unfortunately.

I heard a rumour about a deal which could possibly include Muntari, which would be some consolation given the way the club is run at the minute. I'd prefer a player swap deal because lets face it, we're not going to see most of whatever money does come in anyway.

But you can lose value if you include exchanges, like we could get £30m for Mascherano in sale, but if someone offered a £7m player we might only get + £20m cash

i think we should cash in on Mascherano and concentrate on keeping torres and gerrard, money from Mascherano could be used to buy 2/3 decent players

Agreed. A player plus cash deal could be the only sure fire way to ensure we bring in some sort of decent replacement. How much of the money would even go towards transfers if it was a cash only deal? I just hope whatever manager comes in isn't a complete yes man otherwise the board could just accept the first big cash offer we get and end up sticking it all on the debt.

How often do you see a player worth getting in a player plus cash exchange? Name me one. More often than not the player is nowhere near the club's first team plans, you might get lucky and a decent player is not wanted, but chances are it would be a Nunez rather than a Nani

Well it's going to be Inter Milan probably and I can think of a few. Balotelli springs to mind, Cambiasso even
