Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I honestly don't think we need to spend big to have a team capable of challenging next season.
It seems to me that nearly all the pieces are there - they just need putting together in the right order.
The owners ARE bums but whoever comes in will be just as cautious with their money. I can't see that many players out there who we should be rushing to buy.
Rafa makes Mandleson look like an loser in the spin doctor stakes. Sooner he's gone the better. His hands are not exactly clean and this "It's not me" posturing doesn't wash. Just too easy to blame the owners/injuries/referees/beachballs for his own shortcomings.
Still think that with the right manager this squad could be good enough.

In reality Rafa has everything he could want here. Ok he might not have as much money as he would like but most managers feel like that. What he has got is control. Power. His word is law and everyone at the club knows it. Those who have questioned him have fell foul and left very quickly. He still has Istanbul and the yanks as his two aces. He is clever and quick to spin the fans in his favour as the victim in all of this.
No.
He wouldnt want to leave somewhere he has free rein and no consequences for his fu'ck ups.
Who can blame him?

How many jobs in World football (or in the World anywhere in truth) could you get the results Rafa has and still be employed? He'd be a fool to leave, the money men would be foolish to let him go. Status Quo, he stays.

After six years we are no nearer to winning the league. In fact were further away with better players. Didnt Rafa say we are progressing every season?

We were until this season and I don't recall him saying it this season.

We will be back.

Thank god that terrible season is over. People everywhere are coming out saying last season was a fluke we did so well, in my eyes it was natural progression as we had been doing better and better in the premier league in the years before. we probably played above our level a little for sure but this season is 100% NOT where we really stand. and anyone who says that we are either has an agenda against us or is just fkin stupid.

HAVE to keep our star players
HAVE to be focused next season
HAVE to show solidarity as a team and fans.....

HAVE TO HAVE NEW OWNERS.

The meet with Broughton and Benitez is crucial now so we will hopefully know more this week. Its about facing the problems and everyone looking at whats happended and the steps needed to put it right. This coming week and summer will define what we can expect next season and as ever it will be very interesting if a roller coaster ride.My opinions are clear enough in that whatever happens with the ownership we need a new direction in terms of team management.Thats something we can control and change if theres a desire for it.Unfortunately we cannot control who, if anyone, wants to purchase the football club.

I BELIEVE that this season has just been a blip and when we get rid of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum things can only get better. I hope Rafa stays , we get new investment who actually understand what this Football Club is all about. I BELEIVE in Liverpool FC , I've supported them for more years than I care to remember, I've seen us win The League , and I've stood on the Kop on European nights and cried with passion and pride for this club. I've cried too for the tragedies we've endured, but I've always been proud to support this club , through good times and bad.
I BELIEVE Rafa understands this club and its fans , and yes he's made mistakes, but he's an honourable man and he deserves a chance to manage this team with the backing of owners who are supportive.
So while I'm glad to see the back of this season , I can't wait for next season 'cos I BELIEVE.
Liverpool FC is in my blood and I bleed red. YNWA EVER.
We are LFC.

Whoever is manager next year, needs to know who his best 11 are and play them for all 38 league games (barring injury and suspension). Drop them all for the Carling Cup, FA cup and Euro thingy.

38 league games isn't too much to expect from any player and having the same 11 (bar consistent drop in form) will improve the team.

This post makes zero sense whatsoever. Talk about backward logic.

It's no surprise to me that you don't understand it, none whatsoever. I fear it will be a waste of both our precious times me trying to explain it to someone who thinks that pre season games are irrelevent and that players simply decide on the spur of the moment who takes set pieces.

Best we leave it there. You don't understand it, that's cool by me.

Anyway hopefully we will have a good summer in terms of investment and spending. But if UEFA want more people to be interested in the europa league they need to give more financial incentive.

Trying to be optimistic, I think it could be useful for giving the new management and owners the opportunity to test out some of the youngsters.
I agree it would be good to concentrate on the league and the cup.
I believe under new management with a bit of flair we can regain a top 4 finish without having to splash out a kings ransom.
