Anyway hopefully we will have a good summer in terms of investment and spending. But if UEFA want more people to be interested in the europa league they need to give more financial incentive.

Management(whomever that might be) can always treat the Europa league like the League Cup and play the youngsters. Just more experience for the Pacheco's and N'gog's of the squad.

I also agree that not having to worry about the Champions league fixtures might bring more focus to the club domestically.

B0ll0x to focus on the worthless cup, or whatever it's called now...it's one thing to have the luxury of blooding the younger wans on competitions like that, so long as the first team is fighting on all fronts - the PL and the CL....
How the phuck can LFC even tempt 3 or 4 15-20M rated players when they're in the uefa cup and the carling cup ? not on your life.....this season has much more lasting impact than the muck it has been already...

If the investment, stability and money is there then the players will come because they know we will be back in the Champions League the following year. Look at City this year...

There aren't any more sugar daddies around anymore Bav...
Who in their right mind will take a punt on investing 500M - minimum - into LFC right now ? we look like a bunch of dysfunctional misfits, nothing else...
Hell if I had 500M to spare, I'd be hard pushed to even give it a second thought....this club needs major, major surgery, and the long term prognosis is bad anyway...

The problem for me is we cannot just stand still doing nothing until the owners finally decide to go. We need to get the things we CAN do sorted now where possible. We need to sell players .... buy players etc etc, and while we have a manager that we cant afford to sack and who seemingly won't go unless he gets his £16million we are again stuck.

I just think to say we can't get a new manager until we get new owners is like saying we can't sign new players until we get a new manager. We will finish up doing nothing and come next season we will be in the same boat as we were this season fighting for a european place rather than for top four or the title.

We should do what we can NOW. If we need a new manager show the old one the door , if we need new players sell some of the old ones to tide us over financially until we finally get the investment we need...... for f.ucks sake don't just sit there with our fingers up our bums waiting for the owners to finally say good buy.

BUGGER ..... sorry wrong thread  :D

Rock on

Any player who wants to leave should have a word with Micheal Owen and his chasing the glory career move .

The wheels have fallen off this season and ownership is a blight that needs to be fixed.

However at end of day after all Rafa bashing has finished, ManU and Chelsea havent exactly dominated this season and despite all cash poured in Man City they didnt buy let alone challenge for title this year

We regroup next year and take what is rightfully ours regardless of who manager or the players are

I started a thread a while back saying Europe is a hindrance and a lot of people knocked the suggestion. It is a distraction, unfortunately Europe is such a money spinner the top four all play in the top competition and EDL sucks up another 2-4 so we'd have to do VERY badly to avoid it altogether.

Lowest any team has finished in the Premiership and won it the following season is THIRD. Last time anyone outside the top three won it was Leeds in 91/92. It isn't getting any easier, to bridge large gaps is next to impossible. This season was a good opportunity, the points we managed last season would be enough to win the league this season although Chelsea have a better GD than we had. Their 95 goals scored is just two shy of equalling the Premiership record, three goals against Wigan and they'll break it.

What we need to wonder for next season is where the money will come from to attract players, if any will be attracted to EDL football and who will be overseeing it all

Those wanting happyclappy, rose tinted spec threads should start their own forum. We may bounce back, I hope we do, and I won't stop supporting the CLUB, but let's not bury our heads in the sand, eh? :no The mood on the forum reflects how bad it is, not just because we're fickle or like it. I'd rather we'd beaten Chelsea yesterday and it meant we had to win away to Hull to land the league title but we're not.

We will be back challenging next season, hopefully keeping all of our best players.

bigmick wrote:I can see the wrist slashers are out in force this afternoon. We cannot possibly challenge for anything unless we spend 50 squillion quid and buy up the Spanish National team, if Rafa does leave we're getting Glen Roeder as he's the only one who'll do it, Until the owners leave we can look forward to a relegation battle every season etc etc etc.

I don't buy it. I think Rafa will stay, but if he doesn't I think we'll get ourselves a decent manager and EVEN IF WE DON'T BUY ANYBODY AT ALL, I think we'll have a lot better season next time than we did this. If we buy a couple of players, even if we have to sell some to do it, we might even challenge for the title.

Is that positive enough? Forgive me for not joining in this group self mutilation session while strangely decrying everyone else for being negative.

That's rich coming from the guy that has been preaching the doom 'n gloom message for the last two years because you are the charter member wrist slasher(even when we overachieved last year) :D . Now suddenly being optamistic since all the press is claiming Rafa is leaving and that despite you saying he will be here next year (hedging your bets as usual) is comical.

Whoever the manager next year we will be better, including Rafa. This has been an awful year and I cannot see Rafa allowing it to happen again if he stays (which I hope he will). Without new ownership and money spent, we will never win the title however, even with your crush Maureen.

I certainly didn't get the impression that it was a wave bye-bye when I saw Rafa walking around the pitch. I'm sticking with my prediction that he'll be still at Liverpool next season.

In reality Rafa has everything he could want here. Ok he might not have as much money as he would like but most managers feel like that. What he has got is control. Power. His word is law and everyone at the club knows it. Those who have questioned him have fell foul and left very quickly. He still has Istanbul and the yanks as his two aces. He is clever and quick to spin the fans in his favour as the victim in all of this.
No.
He wouldnt want to leave somewhere he has free rein and no consequences for his fu'ck ups.
Who can blame him?
Who would dare?

How many jobs in World football (or in the World anywhere in truth) could you get the results Rafa has and still be employed? He'd be a fool to leave, the money men would be foolish to let him go. Status Quo, he stays.
