I think Benitez should be sacked for simply buying Voronin. There are several other reasons why he should be given the bullet, but this comes top of the list...

1. Buying Voronin.

2. Buying Lucas

3. Buying Babel

4. Selling Alonso

5. Selling Bellamy

7. Selling Keane

8. Not buying back Owen

That list you just made of his bad deals in the transfer market was not really justified.

1. Lucas is actually improving and could become a good player.
2. Babel at the time looked like a brilliant player and lots of managers were competing over him.
3. He had no choice but to sell Alonso.

The other sales you mentioned are indeed bad pieces of business buy him. But when you compare the good deals that Rafa has done to the bad deals, there are much more of the good. here are a few:

1. Torres
2. Reina
3. Alonso
4. Mascherano
5. Benayoun
6. Insua
7. Aurelio (for free)
8. Aquilani (who will be class)
9. Johnson
10. Agger

I could go on...

But my point is that you are judging rafa on the bad things he has done and not the good things.
