Real Madrid v LIVERPOOL CL 1/4 6th April'21 8pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Reg » Mon Apr 05, 2021 7:15 pm

Liverpool are out for revenge to punish RM for their dirty tactics in the final in 2018.

They won the game through two horrendous goal keeping errors however Sergio 'dirty tw@t' Ramos purposely took Mo Salah out of the game and Liverpool never recovered from his loss.

LFC are back on form after a great performance against Arsenal on Saturday night with players returning to their most influential positions, Jota showing the world he's back and the two young centrebacks demonstrating how well they've gelled.

Madrid, 13-time winners of the competition will be looking to win ahead of the return leg at Anfield on April 14. Madrid've had problems this season but have won nine of their last 11 matches in all competitions, including a 2-0 success over Eibar last weekend to move them to within three points of La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid. It is a huge period for RM as they play Barcelona in the league next weekend before travelling to Anfield for the second leg.

No more to say. Liverpool need to leave blood on the pitch to win this game. It's more than a game, it's unfinished business.

We can beat these bast@rds, but everyones going to have to give 110%.

Note we're playing at their training ground (6,000 capacity) not the Bernabeu which is undergoing restoration.

Time for revenge, lets get a positive result and finish them off.

Interesting we will be playing on their training ground. A ground they would even more familiar with as compared to home turf. however, we do seem to perform better away. Hoping we take a good lead going into 2ng leg.

I really hope Klopp starts Jota.

Games don’t come much more glamorous than this, Liverpool v Real Madrid in the latter stages of the world’s premier club knock out competition. A clash of European Titan’s.
This group of players we have now have done the club and the shirt proud over the last 3 to 4 years and they have another opportunity tonight to write their names into the history books.
In a season littered with terrible injuries and unwanted records what a way to show the footballing world that they have hearts as big as footballs and hearts of champions, the gods of football have thrown the proverbial kitchen sink at them this year but for our players to bounce back by knocking out Real Madrid and reaching a third CL semi final in 4 years really would be the stuff of legend and character personified.
When you walk through a storm hold your head up high.....as soon as they signed for the club and put on a red shirt that song became their song but win tonight and that song really would be their song.
Good luck lads, I won’t say do the shirt proud tonight because you already have, and I know you will again.

I think they are made for us, we like playing attacking teams. I cannot wait to beat them home and away. I was more nervous playing Atletico last year than Real this year....

It's Jota's year this year! He's hungry to get the CL in the bag, ready for the Euros and World Cup. He'll win us this game and the next at our place.

So Varane has tested positive for Covid and will join Ramos in missing tonight. Does help to balance things out a bit with us missing van Djik, Gomez and Matip. There midfield of Kroos, Modric, and Casemiro have been playing together for a while and are top notch. They were key to Madrid winning this competition 3 times in a row and can keep the ball all day so we'll need to try and get on top of them.

Klopp has a welcome selection headache for the first time in a while. The back 5 and Fabinho are dead certain and then he'll need to pick 5 from Thaigo, Gini, Mane, Jota, Salah and Firmino. Might he be tempted to play all 4 of our attackers like he did against City earlier in the season. It looked really good against Arsenal too. Who would be the 2 midfielders? You'd think Thiago is best suited to playing in a 2 alongside Fabinho but Gini is a go to man in the big away games. Revert to type and play 3 midfielders and leave Jota or Firmino out? Firmino is another go to player in big away games where we are unlikely to be dominant on the ball. But leaving out Jota doesn't feel right considering his goal scoring form.

It's nice to have some good options for once!

Chelsea’s form has dipped a bit of late as well, if we get past Real we’ll be in with a great chance of making 3 CL finals in 4 years.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Jota, Mane

Jota starting and Firmino on the bench, very much expected. Keita on for Thiago though is an interesting choice, especially considering the main battle will likely be in midfield.

Real Madrid: Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Nacho, Mendy; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Asensio, Vinicius, Benzema

We have our problems as well but apart from their midfield they don't have a lot of quality. Very much a 50-50 game IMO

Time for revenge boys!

This is very winnable if we play the way we know we can. Interesting that Thiago is on the bench. I’ve liked him with Fab back in the team. Could be a high scoring game with both teams defences compromised. Away goals will be important.
