TEAM NEWS

Newcastle midfielder Joelinton is available despite having to go off with an injury against Manchester City last Saturday.

New signing Lewis Hall is available for selection although head coach Eddie Howe says he lacks match sharpness.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has been passed fit after suffering a knock against Bournemouth.

However, Ibrahima Konate is a doubt with a muscle problem and Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara remain out.

Alexis Mac Allister is available after his red card against Bournemouth was rescinded.

Losing Konate, if it happens, would be a big loss. Newcastle have got a lot of power and pace up top, the lad they got from Everton, Gordon, has recorded the quickest sprint in the whole division, even quicker than Kyle Walker. Although he has got a mistake in him if I was Jurgen I may be tempted to play Gomez instead of big Joel

Away at Newcastle is now probably our 3rd hardest game of the season after City and Arsenal away? Yes they've spent money but Howe has done a really good job. They are a well drilled side who work really hard and are tough to create chances against. City only managed 1-0 at home.

If Konate misses out I'd go for Gomez too because of his pace. Do we chuck Endo straight into such a difficult game or give him his first start against Villa at Anfield next week? I guess it depends on how he's done in training this week. If he does play then I guess it's one of Gakpo or Jota who drop to the bench. I love Jota but for me Gakpo makes us tick when he plays up top so I'd use Diego from the bench.

Jones and Thiago are not available but Klopp said they should be after this game.

We're not ready to face Newcastle away from home. I'd take a draw.

I think either Endo or Bajcetic has to start, Mac10 can then move further forward into a more natural position which will ultimately give us better balance.

Another option could be playing Matip and Gomez at RB with Trent playing in the middle, that will probably make us stronger defensively.

It's a no brainer to play Endo, way more experience than Bajcetic and provides a good football brain for the vital first 20 minutes when we normally leak like a sieve.

Nothing bewildering about it. We've consistently looked a better team with Gakpo up top. Nunez shouldn't play just because of how much we paid for him. He'll need to bide his time and improve. Right now he's behind 4 very good attackers.

A big ask for our brand new midfield to start together away at Newcastle. But Szoboszlai has hit the ground running after an indifferent looking pre-season and Mac Allister can move to a more natural position with Endo in the side. Sure Gakpo will help them out as well as helping to knit our attacking play together.

Up the reds!

Not looking forward to this. I reckon they will tear our leaky defence a new one.

Ffs I was just about to say how I like this low block that prevents them from succeding with the ball over the top, then Trent has a major f*ck up and now Virgil gets a red. It will be a long afternoon this.
